Summer Break
Preventing summer learning loss in children is vital for their academic progress. Here are some strategies to help combat the summer slide:
•Encourage reading: Set aside daily reading time and provide access to a variety of books. Visit the local library and let your child choose books that pique their interest.
•Engage in educational activities: Encourage puzzles, board games, educational apps, and online resources that promote learning in a fun way.
•Enroll in summer programs: Explore local summer camps or programs that offer educational activities aligned with your child's interests.
•Practice core subjects: Dedicate regular time for math exercises, writing prompts, and vocabulary building to maintain academic skills.
•Hands-on learning experiences: Engage in science experiments, nature walks, or visits to museums and zoos to foster curiosity and hands-on learning.
•Set a routine: Maintain a consistent sleep schedule to support cognitive function and establish a structured daily routine that includes designated learning time.
•Encourage exploration: Stimulate your child's curiosity by exposing them to new experiences, encouraging questions, and supporting their individual interests.
By implementing these strategies, we can help our children stay engaged, motivated, and intellectually stimulated throughout the summer, setting them up for continued success academically.

Counselor's Corner
Happy June! Summer is a wonderful time for students to relax and recharge, but it's also important to prioritize mental health during these months. The break from school routines can lead to feelings of boredom or isolation, so maintaining a balance of activities is key. Encouraging outdoor play, creative hobbies, and regular social interactions can help students stay engaged and emotionally healthy. Simple mindfulness practices, like deep breathing or guided imagery, can also provide tools for managing stress and fostering a sense of calm. By supporting a mix of relaxation, creativity, and connection, we can ensure that our students return to school feeling mentally refreshed and ready to learn. Have a safe and relaxing summer!
