Dear OPE Families,

Parent-teacher conferences are coming up on November 9th and 10th! Conferences are a great opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher, celebrate their growth, and talk about how we can continue supporting their learning. I wanted to put these dates on your radar as you plan ahead. Sign-up information will be shared soon, so please keep an eye out for more details. We look forward to connecting with you!

Sincerely,

Principal Harder

Veteran’s Day Submissions:

Families,

Do you have a Veteran in your family you would like to honor this year? If so, please complete and submit the form below. We will include the submissions in next week’s newsletter and in our school wide slideshow on November 12th. Thank you for helping us recognize our local heroes!

Veteran’s Day Submission Form

Reminder's From The Office: Reminder's From The Office:

  • We are in need of clean, gently used pants, shorts, and shirts. If you have any that your student has outgrown, we would like to them off your hands! This will help our students when they have a spill and need a change of clothes. Thanks!
  • After school plan changes need to be communicated to the office BEFORE 1:00 if possible. Students are not allowed to change their own after school plans.
  • Please use the opeattendance@scappoose.k12.or.us email for all communication regarding change of plans or attendance. This will assure that we don't miss information.

Spectacular 6th Grade: Spectacular 6th Grade:

This week in 6th grade science, we have begun discussing how plate tectonics is responsible for earthquakes and tsunamis. Soon, students will be able to read seismograms and determine the epicenter of an earthquake!

In social studies we’re wrapping up our Early Humans unit with an interactive simulation that challenges students to explore how Neolithic farmers improved their standard of living through farming, innovation, and cooperation. After completing the simulation, students will review what they’ve learned and prepare for their first unit test, which is scheduled for the end of next week!

In our ELA classes we have been working on writing spooky stories! We encourage you to check in with your student about their progress on this project.

In Math we are wrapping up our first module and will be moving onto studying ratio and proportions.

We've sent home letters requesting to meet with some parents during the upcoming conferences, and others will be getting the information on who and how to reach out to schedule a conference.

Turn in any extra candy to your homeroom teachers by November 3rd for the annual Healthy Smiles Candy Round-Up!!

Intermural News: Intermural News:

OPE 4th–6th graders, it’s time to get creative and get competitive! We have two exciting intramurals competitions underway, and there’s still time to get involved in the fun!

OPE Costume Contest

What a frightfully fantastic turnout! More than 50 students signed up for this year's OPE Costume Contest, with 26 students submitting their finished costume designs! Our judges had some seriously tough decisions to make. The creativity, effort, and imagination on display were truly impressive!

A big CON-GRAT-BOO-LATIONS to our winners: Taylor (4th) , Raelyn (5th), and Olivia (6th)! And a special round of spooky applause for Georgia, whose design took home the award for Best Overall Design!

A huge thank-you to all the students and families who participated and supported this creative adventure. We know these projects take time, planning, patience, and plenty of creativity (and maybe a little Halloween magic!). Whether you submitted a costume or cheered someone on, thank you for helping make this year's contest such a treat.

Until next year, keep those creative cauldrons bubbling! Have a spooktacular Halloween, Owls!

🏆 2v2 Four Square Tournament

Postponed: Due to Halloween & weather, we have moved the next round of competition to Monday 11-2-26....stay tuned!

The competition is heating up! Round II (quarterfinals) is underway, and our competitors have been displaying great skill and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. It's been fantastic to see students competing hard while still showing respect for their opponents!

We're now heading into the semifinal matches, bringing us one step closer to crowning our 2v2 Foursquare champions. Matches are played during recess, and with only a few teams remaining, every match counts!

Good luck to our semifinalists, and keep up the great teamwork and sportsmanship. Go Owls!
