COUNSELOR’S CORNER:
WEEKLY WELLNESS VIDEOS: Each week, our counselors develop short videos for teachers to use within their classes to teach students important social-emotional skills and develop healthy ways to navigate everyday challenges. This week, students will learn skills to help them build positive relationships and navigate social situations. TK–3rd grade students will focus on solving problems with friends by listening to one another, taking turns, apologizing, and working together to find solutions. 4th–8th grade students will explore how to “read the room” by noticing others’ facial expressions, body language, and tone of voice while remembering not to jump to conclusions. (Grades TK-3, Grades 4-8)
💛 NOVEMBER IS NATIONAL FAMILY LITERACY MONTH: November is a wonderful time to make reading together a family tradition! Reading with your child, talking about stories, and exploring new topics together can strengthen family connections and support learning. Even a few minutes of reading each day can make a difference. Visit the Camarillo Public Library’s Kids page to explore children's books, e-books, storytimes, and educational resources for families.
💛 WORLD KINDNESS DAY – NOVEMBER 13TH: World Kindness Day celebrates the power of kindness, compassion, and understanding. It reminds children that small actions can make a big difference in helping others feel welcome and valued. Encourage your child to include others, offer help, use kind words, and look for opportunities to make someone's day a little brighter. Find fun, family-friendly activities on the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation’s Kindness at Home page.
💛 NOVEMBER IS NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH: November is an opportunity to recognize the rich histories, cultures, traditions, and contributions of Native American and Indigenous peoples. Encourage your child to learn about different cultures with curiosity and respect, helping them develop an appreciation for diversity and the experiences that make our communities unique. Explore family-friendly stories and educational resources through the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian.
💛 GRATITUDE & COMPASSION: As Thanksgiving approaches, encourage your child to practice gratitude by recognizing the people and experiences they appreciate. Help them understand the importance of compassion by noticing when others need support and responding with kindness. Simple acts, such as thanking someone, helping a family member, or including a classmate, can help children build stronger relationships and a greater sense of connection.
