SPHS Update
March 24th, 2024
SPHS Community,
First, I want to personally say thank you to everyone who reached out regard the news of my departure. Your messages really mean a lot to me. Thank you for your support.
Lots and lots of great things happening at SPHS.
First, the RIOT Crew Robotics team did a great job at the Pine Tree District Event! They placed second and now qualified for the New England District Championships in Springfield, Massachusetts! They also won the Autonomous Award! Check out this Sun Journal article with a picture of SPHS's own Wendy Dow-Needham. Congratulations team, and good luck going forward!
The Jazz Band and the Jazz Combo had stellar showings at the Maine State Jazz Festival. Soloists Howard Saffer-Meng and Nelson Kebokere both received Outstanding Musician recognition. Pictures and more info below.
We had a successful SAT day where 11th graders got to take the test at school.
Thank you to the families, students, teachers and staff who helped make the final Family/Teacher conferences a success. It's always great to see so many families partnering with teachers to help our students to be successful.
Finally, the Vision Team at SPHS is a group of educators who are thinking about what the student experience at SPHS could and and should be as we move into the future. We would like to extend an invitation to provide feedback about what the community values and how we might make the experience even better for students and community. The feedback is completely anonymous and it will help us continue the positive progress that SPHS has made. If you can spare a few minutes, we'd love to hear what you think by clicking the appropriate link below to fill out a brief survey.
Peace,
Scott Tombleson (He/Him/His - What is this?)
Principal - South Portland High School
Vision Input and Aspirations
This survey has been created to get Parent's and Guardian's input on what is offered here at the High School. Looking to the future, or looking back at your student's time in high school, what are some things you wish could be part your student's high school experience?
Use the links below for the survey in your language.
Congratulations to Jazz Band & Jazz Combo: Music Competition results
