October 2026
October is Careers in Construction Month
October is Careers in Construction Month, a national celebration that highlights the essential role the construction industry plays in building and shaping our communities. At Middle Bucks Institute of Technology, this recognition is especially meaningful as a Career and Technical Education Center dedicated to preparing students for high-demand, high-skill careers in the trades. Through hands-on learning in programs like Carpentry, Building Trades, Electrical Technology, and more, our students gain the skills, certifications, and confidence needed to succeed in the construction workforce. Careers in Construction Month is a reminder of the opportunities available in this growing industry and the impact our students will have as the next generation of skilled professionals.

From the Jobsite to MBIT: A Co-op Connection Comes Full Circle
Alan Bersin Visits MBIT
A connection made through cooperative education recently brought a very special visitor to Middle Bucks Institute of Technology.
Construction Carpentry student Rebecca Strauss first met Alan Bersin while working on co-op with JR Maxwell Builders, where she was helping with the construction of a home. Impressed by Rebecca, her skills, and her experience as an MBIT student, Mr. Bersin was invited to visit Middle Bucks and see firsthand where students like Rebecca begin building their careers.
During his visit, Mr. Bersin toured the school, met with Dr. Covelle visited the Construction Carpentry program, and spent time speaking with students about their education, experiences, and future career paths.
Mr. Bersin brings an impressive background in public service and education, having held leadership positions that include Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, California Secretary of Education, and Assistant Secretary for International Affairs and Chief Diplomatic Officer for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The visit was another example of the powerful connections created through career and technical education. What began with a student gaining hands-on experience on a co-op jobsite became an opportunity to bring an accomplished leader into the classroom to connect with the next generation.
For Rebecca, it was also a great example of how professionalism, hard work, and the relationships students build in the workplace can open doors in unexpected ways.
The #aMBITion Mural Is Up!
The #aMBITion mural is up, the students are back, and we wanted to hear what everyone thinks!
We grabbed the mic and asked students and staff to share their first impressions and the reactions were so much fun to hear! Check out what they had to say about our new mural.
Student Influencers Make an Impact
Middle Bucks Institute of Technology’s Student Influencer Program is all about giving students a voice and empowering them to share their experiences in Career and Technical Education with the community.
This month, our Medical and Health Professions Student Influencers took that mission to an incredible new level. A video created and shared by the students went viral, reaching more than 11 million views and introducing millions of people to their program in a fun, creative, and authentic way.
The goal of the Student Influencer Program is to give students opportunities to tell the MBIT story from their perspective showcasing what they are learning, highlighting their programs, and helping others better understand the opportunities available through Career and Technical Education.
We are incredibly proud of our Medical and Health Professions students for using their creativity and their voices to represent MBIT and CTE in such a powerful way.
Early Childhood Education Students Get Life-Saving Training!
Our Early Childhood Education students recently completed Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED training with Mrs. Lynda Moyer, a PQAS-approved trainer and American Heart Association-certified instructor.
This important training gives our future early childhood professionals the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to respond effectively in emergency situations involving infants and young children.
Through CPR, AED use, and pediatric first aid instruction, students are gaining valuable credentials while preparing for the responsibilities that come with working in the early childhood education field. These are skills that extend far beyond the classroom and can truly make a difference when it matters most.
A special thank you to Mrs. Moyer for going above and beyond to earn the certifications necessary to provide this training to our students. Her dedication to preparing the next generation of early childhood professionals is greatly appreciated.
Preparing future educators. Building confidence. Keeping children safe.
MBIT Students Unlock the Future of Construction
Students from Middle Bucks Institute of Technology’s Carpentry, Plumbing Technology, Building Trades Occupations, and Electrical Technology programs recently participated in Unlock the Future, an interactive career exploration event connecting Career & Technical Education students with professionals in the residential construction industry.
Far from a traditional career fair, students had the opportunity to learn by doing through demonstrations, conversations with industry professionals, and firsthand exposure to the many career pathways available within the construction and homebuilding industries.
The experience gave our students an incredible opportunity to connect what they are learning at MBIT with real-world careers, explore future possibilities, and hear directly from the professionals working in the field. It was an engaging and valuable experience for all of our students as they continue preparing for their next steps beyond the classroom.
Sports Therapy Students Practice Vital Skills
Students in our Sports Therapy & Exercise Management program recently practiced taking blood pressure and other vital signs as part of their classroom training. Learning how to accurately measure and interpret vitals is an important foundational skill for students exploring careers in sports medicine, exercise science, rehabilitation, fitness, and other health-related fields. Through experiences like this, students are building confidence, strengthening their technical skills, and connecting classroom instruction to real-world applications.
Industry Professional Inspires Cosmetology Students
Industry Professional Inspires Cosmetology Students
Middle Bucks Institute of Technology’s Cosmetology students recently had the opportunity to welcome Danny Amorim, an accomplished Master Barber, entrepreneur, educator, platform artist, motivational speaker, barbershop owner, and Global Educator for Andis.
With nearly 30 years of industry experience, Danny has educated professionals on major industry stages, collaborated with leading beauty brands and publications, and built a strong presence within the barbering and beauty community.
During his visit, Danny shared valuable insight into his professional journey, along with career advice centered on professionalism, networking, hard work, confidence, and the importance of continuing to grow within the industry.
Experiences like this give students the opportunity to learn directly from accomplished professionals while seeing the many possibilities available within the cosmetology and barbering fields. We are grateful to Danny for sharing his time, experience, and encouragement with our future professionals.
