ESL Summer Camp: Week 1 Highlights
Week of Monday, July 6 through Thursday, July 7, 2026
We had a great first week of camp!
On Tuesday, we had a visit from the Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad. These amazing community helpers described their jobs, situations when it is important to call 9-1-1, and even showed us the inside of an ambulance! Students asked great questions and learned so much.
We can't wait to welcome your student back to camp on Monday morning! Have a wonderful weekend!

Check out all of the amazing things our campers did this week!
- Therapy dogs visited our second grade, third grade, and fifth/six students. They will visit our remaining grade levels next week on Thursday.
Here is what our students worked on in their grade level classrooms this week:
1st Grade: Students worked on counting, practicing Fundations skills and rhyming words using chalk outside, and learned about community helpers!
2nd Grade: Second graders enjoyed decorating their notebooks and writing about the visit from the rescue squad!
3rd Grade: Students learned about different helpers and jobs that exist within our community and wrote clever riddles for others to guess the community job they were describing!
4th Grader: Fourth graders loved learning about words this week! They did some word puzzles called "word ladders" and learned that nouns are people, places, and things.
5th/6th Grade: While with Ms. Gorka and Ms. Pereira, students worked on reading and writing scripts for a cooking show! While with Mrs. Strunk, students loved using pentominoes for some math fun!
7th/8th Grade: Our oldest students have quick emerged as leaders at our ESL Summer Camp! Students are leading the morning announcements and helping younger students during dismissal. Students also wrote letters about their first week of camp and voted on two highly engaging read alouds!
