Welcome To Week EIGHT!

Dear Brahma Family,

It seems that Fall has arrived. We even got some rain on Saturday night at the Diamond Bar Chinese American Association's Mid-Autumn Festival. Their organization raised and donated $10,000 for our science department to use to update and upgrade their lab equipment. Science teachers Teresa Hebert and Diana Wei along with instructional deans Jennifer Burns and Nicole Flores joined me on stage to accept the generous donation. It was a great evening that included performances by our jazz ensemble, soloists from our vocal music program, and small group performances by students in our Performing Arts Academy. Thank you to all of the performers and to all who attended this event.

On Monday, the Girls Golf Team is hosting the first annual Tony McCabe Cup at Upland Hills Country Club. The tournament is named after the long-time head coach of both the Girls and Boys Golf Teams and the coach who started the Girls Golf program at DBHS in the early 2000’s. Go Brahmas!

The elections for the USB executive board take place this week. Students in the United Student Body serve their terms from January to December, which is why we hold elections halfway through first semester. The new E-board (President, Vice President, etc.) along with a newly appointed collection of commissioners will be installed at the end of first semester. Please remember to vote for your USB Officers beginning on Tuesday!

This Thursday is the first Food Fair of the school year. The food at the Food Fair isn’t free like our school lunches, the food is sold as a fundraiser by the clubs that signed up in advance to participate. So, remember to bring some money on Thursday, if you want to purchase food at the Food Fair.

• GIRLS GOLF – Monday we are hosting the first annual McCabe Cup at Upland Hills CC and we have league matches Tuesday and Thursday against South Hills.
• FOOTBALL – Bye Week
• VOLLEYBALL – At Rowland on Tuesday and at home versus South Hills on Wednesday.
• BOYS WATER POLO – Home versus Los Altos Wednesday.
