Tynes Weekly Updates
October 17, 2025
Greetings from Dr. Borgese
Mid-quarter Check In
Tiger Community,
As we reach the midpoint of the quarter, I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible work of our staff. They are truly the heart and backbone of Tynes. Every day, they pour their energy, creativity, and care into helping our students grow—not just academically, but as confident, compassionate learners. Their dedication is evident in every classroom, every lesson, and every smile they share with our Tigers.
As we move into our mid-quarter progress checks, I encourage families to take this time to celebrate effort and growth. Progress isn’t just about grades—it’s about perseverance, curiosity, and a love for learning. I could not be prouder to lead such a devoted team and to partner with families who share in our mission of helping every child thrive.
Thank you for your continued support and for being part of the Tynes community—it truly takes all of us.
Warmly,
Dr. Borgese

VISION AND HEARING SCREENING
Grade TK, K, 1 (boys color vision only), 2 & 5
The State of California mandates vision and hearing screening for students in public
school. The screening for your elementary school will be conducted on Friday, October
24, 2025 by nurses. The exam consists of visual inspection of the eye, along with a test
for acuity. Hearing testing consists of your child wearing headphones, where tones are
presented, and your child will raise his/her hand.
Parents will be notified by mail if their child’s vision or hearing screen shows a need for
further medical evaluation. If you have any questions, call the Health Services
Department at (714) 996-1551 and speak with a district nurse.
Should you decide that you DO NOT wish to have your child participate in the
above screening; a written note by a parent/guardian will be required to be on file.
Please give the note to the school’s health clerk.
Thank you,
Health Services
