ISAT testing 2024

We will begin our ISAT testing for the 2023-2024 school year on April 15th. This year there have been some proposed changes to the use of the testing results that are very important to understand. The ISAT for this year's junior (11th grade) students may impact higher education opportunities in a similar way as the SAT and ACT have in the past. It is critical that our students take the test seriously and they do their absolute best.

Here is an outline of the testing schedule:

  1. Testing will begin April 15th and continue for approximately two weeks.

  2. Testing will take place in the BHS library.

  3. We will test one content area at a time (ELA, MATH, and SCIENCE).

  4. Students will be excused from the classes they miss during testing (they will have to report to the library for three separate tests on three different dates).

  5. If students miss test days, they will be called into the library on a make-up day.

  6. ISAT test scores may impact higher education opportunities in the same way that the ACT and SAT have in the past.

  7. PHONE WARNING!!!! If any student has a cell phone during any part of the testing window (complete or not complete with the test), the cell phone will be confiscated and it may be sent to the state for analysis to protect the integrity of the assessment.

Please reach out to Mr. Shannon Lance at Blackfoot High School if you have any questions or concerns regarding ISAT testing.

Support Services

Support Services provides specialized teaching and related services to help students with disabilities make progress in school. Related services like speech therapy, occupational therapy, or counseling are also provided for those who qualify.

Blackfoot High School believes that all students should have the opportunity to succeed in life. To ensure this happens, Blackfoot High School partners with students, parents, and outside agencies to offer opportunities to help transition students to life beyond high school. In addition to specialized teaching and related services, students are given the opportunity to participate in experience-based learning that provides direction toward individual future career choices.

The Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation is an instrumental partner in helping fund and plan these opportunities. Students can take part-time workplace experience classes in the community with job coaches/trainers, where they are taught vocational skills.

Students can participate in part-time Summer Work-Based learning at the school district or businesses throughout the community. Students are paid a $12.00 hourly wage while learning job skills from familiar school district employees. It’s a great opportunity to build working relationships and explore career options. The Summer Work-Based Learning program takes place Monday-Thursday and goes through June and July, with the week of July 1-4 off.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in summer Career-Technical Education classes, including Welding, Woodworking, Cooking, Cosmetology, and Robotics/3D Printing/ Drones. Students learn applicable skills that they can use throughout their careers. These classes also allow students to develop relationships with teachers in a small group setting. Classes are held for three hours, Monday through Thursday, for three weeks in June.

These services are offered to any student who qualifies for special services or a 504 plan. If you have any questions or if your student would like to participate, please contact Blackfoot High School.

PI Day

This year the math department held a Pi Day where they had activities in the math classes on 3/14. There were 4 different rooms with different Pi Day activities for the students. One room had Pi Art, one room students discovered Pi , one room had a Pi related scavenger hunt, and one room students ate pancakes, played and played a game. It was a lot of fun and we hope to do it again next year.
