Week 4 - August 31, 2025
Dear Defender Families,
It was another wonderful week at Day Middle School! We were thrilled to see so many students showing their school pride during Spirit Week. In addition, our classrooms continue to be filled with engaging lessons that inspire critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
As a reminder, there is no school on Monday in observance of Labor Day. This holiday was first celebrated in the late 1800s to honor the contributions and achievements of American workers, and it continues to be a day of recognition and rest for families across the country.
Here are a few helpful reminders and updates:

Traffic: For everyone’s safety and to keep traffic flowing smoothly, please do not park in the drop-off loop in the morning. This area is for quick drop-offs only. Your cooperation helps us keep students safe and ensures that all families can get through quickly. Thank you for your patience and teamwork!

Attendance: Every day counts! We encourage families to schedule appointments and trips outside of school hours whenever possible. Consistent attendance is one of the most important ways to support your child’s success. If your student is healthy, we want them here learning with us!
- Calendar: Please take a look at the 2025–2026 school year calendar. Keeping these dates in mind will help with planning family events and making the most of the school year.
We also encourage you to explore the resources provided on becoming an observer in Infinite Campus and Canvas. This is a wonderful way to stay connected to your student’s progress and support them at home.

🌟 Gates open at 7:45 am. All students should be in their classes by 8:00 am.

Parents, students, and non-rostered staff—we need you! 🌟 Our School Site Council (SSC) currently has one opening for a parent, one for a student, and one for a non-rostered staff member. If you are interested in serving and making a difference in our school community, please complete the nomination form to be considered. Complete the Nomination Form by September 6, 2025. There are typically 4 SSC meetings throughout the year. The meetings are scheduled from 2:45-4:00 in the DMS Media Center on September 25, January 22, March 19, and May 14.
TVUSD Safe Riders Registration
If you have a student who is riding a bike/scooter/ebike/escooter to school, they need to complete the Safe Riders Course.
