Washington Co. Schools Celebrate With Field Day for Special Education Students! Washington Co. Schools Celebrate With Field Day for Special Education Students!

SST 16 would like to recognize Washington County School Districts who participated in a special field day event for Special Education and Cross-Categorical Classrooms on Friday, May 10. 2024. Over 350 students took part in the event at Don Drumm Stadium, organized and sponsored by Marietta City Schools. "This is a Snack and Field Day 2024, Tiger Style," Alison Woods, Director of Student Services for Marietta City Schools, said. "We're hosting this year. It is a county-wide field day for special education and cross-categorical resource room across Washington County." Districts participating included: Marietta, Warren, Waterford, Belpre, Ewing and Fort Frye. Marietta and Warren also provided student volunteers.

Activities set up included: water balloon toss, pool noodle tag, sack races, a parachute and sensory and craft stations. Woods added: "It's a great community outreach in working with the kids. They have been wonderful working and helping keep the games going." Food and treats were provided including Kona Ice. Community sponsors helped fund the food and activities. An awards ceremony concluded the day with to-go bags that contained fidgets, water bottles and other goodies.

Congratulations to all of these districts for providing a great experience for these students in celebration of the completion of the 2023-2024 school year!

Thank you to The Marietta Times for the article information and photo.
