A Few Notes from Us...
We hope you had a great Labor Day! For the next few weeks, we're ready for five days a week at AGS!
SRT in Action
For the first two weeks, we used SRT to prepare for AGS routines. This meant three individual grade-level class meetings to review expectations. It also meant teaching students our SRT systems and plans as well as reviewing other building procedures. This week, we launched real SRT sessions. Students travelled to classrooms for homework help, enrichment, intervention, and extension learning opportunities. It is exciting to consider what great learning opportunities await our students with SRT this year!
Early Release Wednesday
Thanks for making Wednesday work for your students. After students left for the day, our staff gathered in the library (see picture below) and began a great collaborative learning process that will have a great impact on all students' experiences. Through our collaborative framework, we'll be able to put great creative teamwork to designing powerful learning moments based on essential standards. We love the positive partnership between school and community in Fenton - this Wednesday was a clear manifestation of that partnership.
Athletic Accomplishments
We saw many AGS student athletes take the court and field this week. Some highlights:
- Our football teams scrimmaged a difficult Davison team to prepare for the season ahead
- Our 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams both won their home games against Holly on Wednesday. Many Tiger hoopers scored baskets, but we were so impressed by the level of defense the girls played!
- Our Cross Country team had a tri-meet on Thursday afternoon with Flushing and Holly visiting campus. The boys team won collectively and the girls team finished second. The individual winners of both races were Fenton Tigers, too!
Plenty to celebrate - and the Tigers do it all with kindness and courage!
Back to School Pancake Breakfast
We hope you can join us for the annual Back to School Pancake Breakfast. The event will be held at AGS on Sunday, September 13th. The event features FAPS Staff flipping pancakes, photo booth, FAPS Principal Pancake Catching Contest, kids games, and more! We hope to see you there!

Health Class Reminder
All middle school students have a four-lesson state mandated health curriculum that our physical education teachers deliver during SRT. Those lessons will begin for some students toward the end of September. We rotate students in for these lessons, then rotate them out once they've had them. Lessons include units on Human Reproduction and HIV/AIDS. According to Public Act 226 of 1977, you have the right to review the materials used in these lessons. If you would like to review the materials, please email Mr. Malecki. You also have the right to excuse your student from participating. If you wish to excuse your student, please complete this Reproductive Health Opt Out Form. Paper copies of this form are available in our main office. If you wish to have your student participate, no action is required.
HOPE Squad at AGS
As a district, Fenton is committed to ensuring belonging in our school community, building connection, and embedding hope in our work. Hope Squad is an organization that has set up thousands of Peer-to-Peer Hope Squads across the United States in schools. Their stated purpose "to foster human connection, community, and hope" truly aligns with the work we do for our school and community. You can learn more about the organization by visiting their website HERE.
One of our school counselors and social worker, Ms. Kinney and Ms. Millikin, are in the earliest stages of building a Hope Squad at AGS! They've recently completed the training necessary to serve as advisors for an AGS Hope Squad.
Our goal is to create a school culture where students feel seen, supported, and comfortable reaching out for help. If you have any questions, please contact either building administrator, Ms. Kinney, or Ms. Millikin.
Counselor Corner Google Classroom
On Thursday, our school counselors sent Google Classroom invitations to ALL students via their school Gmail. During your child's homeroom/SRT, they were to accept the invite and join the group. This will give our students direct access to their counselor whenever they need support.
During next week's homeroom/SRT news broadcast segment, our counseling team will be featured to introduce themselves and share all the great services they offer. Please take a moment to see if your student has successfully joined the Counselor Corner Google Classroom.

New Payment System Setup!
FAPS Is Utilzing New System for Payment- Please See Details Below!
Fenton Area Public Schools is excited to announce a new online payment system to replace what we were using in the past which was eFunds for Schools. This new online payment from RevTrak opens up a ton of opportunities to pay for school fees and other school activities, such as field trips (coming soon!) and dance events like homecoming (coming soon!).
We are continuously building out our webstore for the future events and fees but we are set up for the start of the school year. You will see items appear starting in early August. You are able to create your account now so that you can add a payment method (Whether it is a credit card or your bank account using routing and account numbers) so you are ready to pay for items on the webstore.
Adding money to your student's lunch account remains the same as it was using the family portal from MealMagic. You will notice RevTrak or Vanco being listed on your bank statements instead of eFunds as RevTrak/Vanco is the new payment processor for MealMagic.
Having an account will keep your purchase history and you will be able to see any required or optional fees that are assigned to your child or children.
The link to the webstore is fentonschools.revtrak.net and it can also be found on our website under the Our District tab.
There are a few step by step guides linked that will walk you through how to create an account and link your child or children to your account so please follow those steps carefully.
Picture Ordering Information
School pictures are ready for those who were able to attend schedule pickup/ orientation!
Your child’s school pictures are now available! To view them online, please log in to your account at mylifetouch.com. If you don’t have an account yet, you can create one using your email address. You’ll need your student’s ID number or their portrait id and access code to locate their photos.
If you were not able to attend orientation and did not have your picture taken, we will be having a picture re-take day on September 29th!
