Letter from the Principal - Adopt a Lewis Family for Thanksgiving
Dear Lewis Community,
Gather up your family and friends and put together a “Thanksgiving Dinner To-Go” for a Lewis family. We have several families in our community who would love all the fixings to have a Thanksgiving meal in their own home.
What you need to do: Please email me (dfroehlich@pps.net) and let me know if you are interested. I then can give you an idea of how many people are in the home.
Then purchase the goods from the list below. Put the items in a box or bag and bring it to school on Monday Morning. November 24th. We will then get it delivered.
Items to include:
Turkey or Ham
Foil roasting pan Stuffing - Stove top
Bag of potatoes
Onion
Box of butter
Couple of cans of green beans or corn
Roll of foil
Cream of mushroom soup
Box or bag of cookies
A Pie
Bag of rolls
Extras:
Seasonal paper table cloth
Napkins

Sparkling cider
If you would like to help out, but want to pass on the organizational part, I would be happy to also have gift cards to hand out to families. Gift cards to local grocery stores (Fred Meyer, Winco, Safeway, New Seasons) would be much appreciated.
If you are a family who would like to receive one of these Thanksgiving “dinner kits” please call or email me at dfroehlich@pps.net

Fall Schoolwide School Counseling Lessons:
Introduction to the “Zones”, Feelings Identification/Zone & “Self Regulation” (K-5): “Self-regulation” is an important skill that children learn to manage their emotions, behavior, and bodies when they’re faced with tough situations and big feelings. This Fall, Ms. Jessy has been using the “Zones of Regulation” curriculum to teach all Lewis students to first identify what feelings they might be having and then two, identify what “zone” they are in. Students are learning what “self-regulation” means and in future lessons, they will build on their understanding of the “Zones” and learn “tools” to help “self regulate”/or take care of themselves when they are in the blue, yellow or red zones. Students learned that all feelings are “ok” and there is no “good” or “bad” zone. As we build on our learning of the “Zones”, students will learn to use self-regulation tools to take care of themselves and get back to the green zone to do their “job of being a student” and connecting to expected behaviors and classroom learning. Below is the “Zones of Regulation” tool we are learning about and use schoolwide.
