Superintendent's Weekly Update
9/23/2022
February 17, 2023
Dear Weymouth Public Schools' Community,
This week several area school districts, and a growing number of school districts around the Commonwealth, have reported receiving "swatting" calls claiming fake threats to schools. "Swatting" is a hoax or prank call to emergency services in an attempt to bring about the dispatch of a large police presence.
Weymouth Public Schools did not receive any swatting calls, but we would like to remind everyone any threat received by our schools or district would immediately initiate safety protocol. Additionally, caregivers of students in any school that has initiated safety procedures would be notified through our communications system. The safety, security and wellbeing of our students and staff members is always our top priority. If you have any questions related to safety procedures, please reach out to your student's principal.
Speaking of safety, this week we celebrated our School Resource Officers during National School Resource Officer day on Wednesday, February 15. We are incredibly grateful to have the support of our exceptional SRO's-- Officer Flanagan, Officer Shambato, Officer Hamacher and Charlee who enhance the safety and security in our schools for our students and staff.
This week was also National School Bus Driver Appreciation Week, and we are fortunate to have incredibly dedicated bus and van drivers. We appreciate all of you and your commitment or our students and their safety.
We hope you enjoy February vacation with family and friends, and take time if you're able to rest and relax during the last full month of winter. We look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Monday, February 27.
Kind Regards,
Robert Wargo

Night to Shine Prom
From Lisa Stokes - On Friday, February 10th our kids went to The Night to Shine a prom for kids with intellectual difficulties. This was an amazing event. Most of the kids went to our very own cosmo program. They got their hair and nails done. Thank you Jennifer MacNeil and girls. We had a Pre-Prom and red carpet thanks to Maryellen Devine, Laura O'Connor and Danielle Ames. We had amazing student chaperones as dates. This night was possible because of the tremendous hard work from Janet Carpenter and Denise Cave. It’s the little things that make a big difference. I am so proud to be a Wildcat.
