Hello Collins Families,

We hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing Spring Break! We are so excited to welcome our students back tomorrow and look forward to hearing about all of their adventures.

Thank you again for your incredible support of our Fun Run. Because of your generosity, we were able to raise a substantial amount of money to support our students and campus. We will share the final total soon and look forward to putting those funds to great use for our school community.

As we head into the final nine-weeks of the school year, we are focused on finishing strong. Our STAAR tests are just three weeks away, and our students and teachers are working hard each day to prepare.

We truly have the best students in the district, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to partner with you and for your continued support of Collins.

Sincerely,
Chelsea Harness

Thank You for an Amazing First Collins Fun-Run-A-Palooza!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make our very first Collins Fun-Run-A-Palooza such an incredible success! We are so grateful for the many volunteers, sponsors, donors, parents, students, and staff who gave their time, energy, and support to make this day possible.

From helping plan and set up, to running stations, cheering on our runners, donating prizes, and participating in all the fun, it truly took our entire Collins community to make the day so special. Because of your generosity and enthusiasm, our students were able to enjoy a fun-filled day while raising money that will go right back into supporting our school.

We are so thankful to be part of such an amazing and supportive community. Thank you for helping make our first Collins Fun-Run-A-Palooza a day to remember!

Upcoming Spirit Night--March 18th!

This Wednesday, March 18th we have a Collins Spirit Night at Twisted Sugar & Knox has a spirit night at Torchy's Tacos. Let's help support our feeder school by having dinner at Torchys, then walking over to Twisted Sugar for dessert to support both schools!

In Mr. Huntโ€™s art class, we are working on our sculpture unit. Students are learning about the main types of sculpture, creating an orthographic drawing and beginning to create a wearable sculpture out of paper mache. In Mrs. Williams art class, we are working on our mixed media projects. Students are practicing a variety of different mediums and learning about various different art movements and artists.

Youth Art Month

March is Youth Art Month! The following art pieces are being displayed at the Montgomery County Library for the entire month of March to celebrate. Be sure to check out our amazing Collins artists' art work!

Important Informationโ— Important Informationโ—

Stay Updated on Your Childโ€™s Grades!

We recommend setting up gradebook notifications to stay informed about your childโ€™s progress. This process has changed since the district moved to the new Parent Portal last year and you may have found that you are no longer receiving notifications.

To set up notifications:

1. Log in to Home Access Center on the Parent Portal.

2. Click on Classwork and Schedules.

3. Choose the alerts youโ€™d like to receive.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: If you want to get an email for all entered grades, select โ€œAlert me if my student receives an assignment average below 100โ€ (as shown in the picture).

This quick setup helps you stay in the loop and support your studentโ€™s success!

Dismissal Reminders Dismissal Reminders

Inclement Weather Dismissal

In the event of severe weather, please check your email or text for updates on whether we will have an Inclement Weather (Rainy Day) Dismissal.

If extreme weather (wind, hail, lightning, extreme rain) is expected around dismissal (4:05 PM), we recommend that students get picked up in the Car Rider Line. Biking and walking students will only be released directly to a parent with the student's car rider sign or ID number.

Car Rider:

  • Every parent should have a car rider sign visible in the car line.
  • If you are picking up additional students, please write each studentโ€™s ID number clearly and in large print on a sheet of paper.
  • Missing car rider signs or ID numbers slows down the process for everyone.

Biker/Walker:

  • Parents using this option should line up at the 5th grade bike rack.
  • A car rider sign or ID number is also required.

Calling the Front Office:

  • We will do our best to notify families by 3:35 PM if an Inclement Weather Dismissal will be used.
  • Please have a "Plan B" established with your child so they will know how they are getting home.
  • You do not need to call the front office unless it is a change from your pre-established "Plan B."
