Bruin's Den March Parent Update
From the desk of Jennifer Carter: Principal
Principal's Message
Dear Alta Sierra Intermediate Parents & Guardians, As we enter the month of March, we are officially in the final stretch of the school year. This is a pivotal time for our students, and your continued partnership makes all the difference. Thank you for the many ways you support learning at home and stay engaged in your child’s education. We encourage families to continue checking Parent Connect weekly to monitor grades, assignments, and attendance. Early awareness allows for early intervention. If you have questions or concerns about your student’s progress, please reach out directly to their teachers. Open communication between home and school is one of the strongest predictors of student success. Daily attendance remains a top priority. Being present, on time, and ready to learn ensures students receive First Time Best Instruction from their teachers. While assignments can be made up, the in-class learning experience — including discussion, collaboration, guided practice, and immediate feedback — cannot be fully replicated. If your student will be absent for one or more days, please contact Ms. Gallegos or Mrs. Gerber in the Grizzly Cluster office to arrange Independent Study. This helps students stay on track and minimize learning gaps during extended absences. Spring is always a busy and exciting season on campus, filled with activities, performances, athletics, and important academic milestones. Let’s continue working together to help our Bruins stay focused, finish strong, and make these final months of the school year their very best. On a personal note, I will be taking a medical Leave of Absence beginning March 11th for approximately 4–6 weeks. During my absence, former ASI Principal, Steve Pagani, will be serving as substitute principal. Mr. Pagani knows our campus, our staff, and our community well, and I have complete confidence that Alta Sierra will be in excellent hands during this time. Thank you for your continued support of our school community. Warmly,
Mrs. Carter
Principal

Honoring Ramadan in Our School Community
Dear ASI Community,
During this season, we recognize and honor the holy month of Ramadan, observed by many members of our school community. Ramadan is a time of reflection, prayer, generosity, and compassion. We acknowledge the commitment and dedication of those who are fasting and participating in this important tradition.
At Alta Sierra, we are dedicated to fostering a culture of respect, inclusion, and belonging. We are proud to support and acknowledge the diverse traditions and beliefs represented within our school community. We encourage our students to demonstrate empathy, kindness, and understanding toward classmates who may be observing Ramadan.
If your child needs any support or accommodations during this time, please feel free to reach out to our office. We are here to ensure that every student feels valued, respected, and supported.
We extend our warm wishes to all who are observing Ramadan.
With respect,
ASI Teachers & Staff

10 Reasons Why Kids Need to be in School
REASON # 8 BEING PREPARED
Research shows students who attend school regularly keep up with assignments and homework and develop better ways to prepare for a quiz or exam. Learning how to be prepared can also help them stay organized and feel comfortable joining a club, teach or other co-curricular activitiy.

Dress Code
With the arrival of warmer weather, students may make clothing choices based on comfort.
Please encourage your student to select attire that aligns with the dress code and to be mindful that their choices are connected to participation in campus activities, including end-of-year events such as the yearbook assembly, Wild Water, and rallies.
While the full dress code policy can be found on the CUSD website, we would like to remind students of the following key guidelines:
- Clothing that exposes bare midriffs or cleavage is prohibited at any time during school or school-sponsored activities or events. Shoulder straps on tops and other clothing must be a minimum of two inches (2”) wide.
- Dresses and skirts must be no shorter than five inches (5”) above the top of the kneecap, but no shorter than mid-thigh.
- Shorts must have an inseam of at least five inches (5”). They should be stitched evenly around, and if frayed, must be stitched to prevent further fraying. Holes revealing skin or undergarments are not allowed. Spandex or Lycra shorts are not permissible. Shorts worn during physical education may not be worn during regular class time at secondary sites.
Thank you for your support in maintaining a dress code that promotes a respectful and positive learning environment.

Our 8th grade team, E.G.G., advanced all the way to the final round and finished an impressive 13th overall and won the Reach Award. Their innovation, strategic thinking, and composure under pressure truly set them apart—and we’re excited to share that they will be advancing to another competition!
Our 7th grade team, Half-Wit Hatchlings, also delivered a strong performance, demonstrating resilience, teamwork, and remarkable technical skill while competing at such a high level.
We are so proud of both teams for representing our school with excellence, sportsmanship, and determination. The future of robotics at our school is bright!
