Term 2 Issue 6 14th May 2026
PRINCIPAL'S POST
Dear Parents & Caregivers,
Welcome to Week Four! We hope all of our school community mums had a wonderful Mother's Day last Sunday. Thank you to everyone who was able to come along last Friday to help share in our celebrations. It was a lovely morning, and thank you to the P&F for their work in organising the gift stalls and the raffle. You deserve to be recognised and celebrated every day, but I hope you received the royal treatment over the weekend. You deserve it!
NUMERACY WEEK 18th to 22nd MAY
This coming week, our school will celebrate all things Maths in our biennial Numeracy Week. Numeracy Week is our chance to celebrate Maths as one of our key learning areas. Numeracy Week gives us a chance to celebrate what an amazing learning area Maths is, and that it can be full of fun and discovery. Our aim in celebrating Numeracy Week is to bring awareness and a sense of curiosity and problem-solving. We have two incursions for our students to participate in over the next week or so, as well as some online in-class learning games and a few maths riddles to be solved before school. On Tuesday, the 19th May, from 2:45pm to approximately 3:30pm, we will open our gym doors to parents and children to come in and try some problem-solving activities. There will be five door prizes for any parents who come along with their child and explore the activities. Gotta be in it to win it!
LOCKDOWN DRILL
The school held a lockdown drill this week. These emergency drills are important to ensure that our school practices are safe when it comes to enacting emergency procedures like evacuations, lockdown and shelter in place. The children and staff followed the protocols calmly and maturely. Staff feedback is critical to iron out any bumps in procedure so that we are always prepared for any situation. We hope we never need to do these drills for real, but if we do, your child is in good hands.
SCHOOL TOILETS
A reminder that adults are not permitted to use or enter the student toilets whilst they are on site. There is an adult unisex ambulant toilet at the side of the gym that can be used by adults if needed. Adults are not permitted to use any other toilet in the school due to health and safety reasons. If you need any help whilst on school grounds, please come and ask at the front office for assistance. Thank you.
SCHOOL PHOTOS - WEDS 20th and THURS 21st MAY
Please read the correspondence below regarding school photos very carefully. It contains important information in the lead up to and on the days of the photos. Thank you.
RECONCILIATION WEEK AND NATIONAL SORRY DAY
These two important events will be recognised at school through different teaching and learning activities. It is important that we recognise the past, whilst endeavouring to move forward together and find a path that strengthens our bonds and respect for each other.
CROSS COUNTRY CARNIVAL WEDS 27th MAY
Mr Rebeiro and the students have been busy training for the upcoming Cross Country Carnival in a few weeks time. Mr Rebeiro has already sent the school community key information as to the specifics of the event and how it will run (pardon the pun!). There will be a coffee van available to keep the adults happy as we wait to cheer the students across the line. We hope to see as many parents and caregivers there as possible. Thanks.
EXTENDED LEAVE FORM - HOLIDAYS
A reminder to parents and caregivers that if you are planning on going on a holiday or having a planned absence (other than medical) longer than three consecutive days, you must fill out an Extended Leave Form via our school website under headings 'Our School' 'Forms & Procedures'.
STUDENT ABSENTEEISM
We kindly remind parents and caregivers that if your child is going to be absent from school, the process to notify us is either one of two ways: firstly, you can ring the school number and choose the absentee line or secondly, use the link on the website to send an absentee form via email. Notifying the classroom teacher is not the protocol, and you will be directed to go through the formal process explained above. Thank you for your cooperation on this matter.
Best wishes,
Geoff Clarke
Acting Principal

MAY - The Month of the Blessed Virgin Mary
MAY is a special month that the church dedicates to the Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God and our mother. In this month especially, we are encouraged to renew and deepen our relationship with our Spiritual Mother Mary. We can do this by reflecting on her life, whilst we pray the rosary, or any other prayer devoted to Mary, which expresses our gratitude for her Motherly care.
Upcoming dates:
First Holy Communion Commitment Masses- Saturday 16th May and Sunday 17th May
First Holy Communion Parent Workshop- 26th May 6pm

R.U.L.E.R in ACTION
As part of our RULER social and emotional learning program, students are learning about different feelings using the Mood Meter. One area of the Mood Meter is the Blue Quadrant, which includes feelings that are low in energy and uncomfortable, such as feeling sad, tired, lonely, bored, or disappointed.
These emotions are a normal part of life and help children learn more about themselves and others. When children experience Blue Quadrant feelings, they may need rest, reassurance, quiet time, or connection with a trusted adult. At school, we support students by helping them name their feelings, understand that all emotions are okay, and learn gentle strategies to care for themselves.
Working Together
Families can support this learning at home by talking about emotions, normalising difficult feelings, and offering calm support when children are feeling low. Together, we are helping our students build emotional awareness, resilience, and empathy.
Our Year 2 students created worry stones while learning about the feeling word “worried” and ways to manage big emotions in the Blue Quadrant.

Social Worker Tips
Here are some ways to build your child's emotional regulation skills:
You can be as creative as you like or simply teach your child how to take some deep breaths
- Create a calm down corner for your child to retreat to when they feel overwhelmed
- Create a calm down kit filled with tools to help them self-regulate such as a calm down bottle, a journal, ear defenders, or stress balls
- Teach deep breathing techniques, mindfulness strategies, or try some meditation
- Practice identifying and naming different emotions through play, with pictures, and through modelling
STAFF SPOTLIGHT
This week, we have celebrated School Nurse Appreciation Week. What better way to acknowledge one of our two wonderful nurses than by turning the spotlight on them!
- My go-to binge or streaming service or program...is without a doubt, Survivor. I’m a die-hard adventure fan and could happily watch it on repeat forever.
- If I could be elite at any sport, it would be...soccer, no question. I already play socially, so you can just call me Kym Ronaldo.
- My all-time favourite music artist is...Red Hot Chilli Peppers — always at the top of the playlist.
- Bucket list holiday destination....Maldives. Staying in one of those overwater villas is definitely a dream holiday!
- Peanut butter - crunchy or smooth? Crunchy all the way…but honestly, I’m a Vegemite girl at heart.
Don't be surprised if you see Nurse Kym on the next season of Survivor...she secretly applied!
