H-F High School Alumni Newsletter
Summer 2026

Greetings Vikings! Message from the Alumni Director
As I wrap up my third year serving as your Alumni Director, one thing has become crystal clear: Vikings don’t really “graduate” from being Vikings. (The diploma just makes it official!) Every reunion, campus visit, email, and conversation reminds me that what makes HF special isn’t just the time we spent here—it’s the alumni community that continues to support, celebrate, and inspire one another long after graduation.
That same Viking spirit continues to shape the future of HF. While we proudly celebrate our rich history, we are also building an exciting future rooted in excellence, innovation, and opportunity. This year, HF was officially recognized as an International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) school, expanding access to meaningful, career-focused learning experiences for students. We also celebrated national recognition for HF’s "Your Path. Your Future." Career Pathways Guidebook, which earned the prestigious 2026 Gold Medallion Award from the National School Public Relations Association — a distinction awarded to only 15 schools nationwide.
Our Vikings continue to make us proud — from the Girls Track & Field Team capturing their second consecutive IHSA State Championship, to senior Charley Dieringer becoming a two-time SkillsUSA Illinois State Champion, and our dedicated staff being recognized for excellence in their fields, including Mr. Alexander Pratt, named Illinois Association of Badminton Coaches “Coach of the Year,” and Mr. Adam Vogel, recipient of the National High School Strength Coaches Association Program of Excellence Award. These accomplishments reflect the passion, talent, and commitment that define Viking Nation.
Just as today’s Vikings continue to achieve, our alumni remain a powerful part of the HF story. This past semester, we proudly welcomed a record-breaking number of alumni back to campus to share their experiences, careers, and journeys with current Vikings. Most recently, Ryan Flournoy ’18, wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, returned to inspire more than 100 student-athletes through the Homewood-Flossmoor/Flournoy Football Camp.
Beyond campus, Vikings continue to break barriers and make an impact around the world, including Scott Adametz ’03, a multi-Emmy Award winner who became the first-ever Chief Technology Officer of the Pac-12 Conference. I’m excited to share more of these incredible Viking stories and accomplishments throughout this edition.
I hope the stories and highlights below fill you with the same Viking pride they inspire in me. Wishing you a wonderful Fourth of July and a summer filled with relaxation, adventure, and connection. Once a Viking, Always a Viking!
Sincerely,
Victoria I. Koblick
Director of Alumni Engagement and Development
