General Information
First Semester Finals
First semester finals for high school are fast approaching. Please remember that finals or culminating activities are conducted in every high school class. Any planned absence from HS finals must be pre-approved by the principal. Parents/guardians can contact the principal by emailing Mr. McCune at smccune@gunnisonschools.net. Senior Yearbook Ads
It’s that time of the year again for the senior ads or “baby pages!” This is completely OPTIONAL but always fun for the seniors. The senior ads are collages of your beloved senior in the back of the yearbook. This part of the yearbook is strictly a relationship between you and Josten’s which is the yearbook company we use to create yearbooks. This is a chance for you to celebrate your seniors and create a lasting memory for them and their friends. For a full page, it is $200 and a half page is $100. While this price may seem expensive, it is a one-time expense and prices are similar to other schools. You and your senior will only experience this expense once before they graduate CBCS, but it’ll be a fun memory that’ll last forever in the yearbook. For more information on ordering please click HERE.
Sincerely,
Yearbook team

PTA News
Holiday Giving
Holiday giving closes this week! As a convenience to parents, the PTA is once again hosting a link for families who would like to give to their teachers and staff this holiday season. Clark’s Market has generously donated $3500 to boost our gift card contribution to teachers. We love providing gift cards to a local business that is supportive of our community! We ask that you donate by Wednesday December 18th so we can have time to distribute gift cards. However, we will still accept donations until Friday. Visit our website for FAQs and more information on how we support teachers and staff during the holiday season. Contribute here!
*Note: All CBCS staff and teachers are in the same category this year. Please consider all teachers and staff when making your donation. Thank you!
PTA January Meeting
Please join us for a PTA meeting on Wednesday, January 8th at 8:45am at Town Hall in the Junior meeting room. This meeting is for anyone who wants to learn more about what we do and how you can help. We will be reviewing the Bylaws, vacant leadership roles and new Finance Policy. All are welcome - you don't have to be a member to attend. You can also attend virtually. Email info@crestedbuttepta.org for a virtual invitation.
Volunteer Opportunities
Help our teachers in the most direct way possible, consider registering as a substitute teacher! The process is quick and easy, with minimal requirements. You will receive support from the staff, no experience required! You can specify if you prefer elementary or secondary. Want to help, but can't commit to a whole day? Substitutes are needed for half days as well either for morning or afternoon blocks.
Email Laura Parker, GSWD Substitute Coordinator, to indicate your interest (or with any questions), and she will guide you through the process. lparker@gunnisonschools.net

Logistics
School Messenger: Text Messaging
Our school utilizes the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages, straight to your mobile phone with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts and more. You can participate in this service by sending a text message of "yes" to our school's short code number 67587. You can also opt out of these messages at any time by simply replying to one of the messages with "stop." SchoolMessenger is compliant with the Student Privacy Pledge, so you can rest assured that your information is safe and will never be given or sold to anyone.
Halo Smart Sensor Monitors
We take safety seriously at CBSS and we are committed to providing a safe, substance free school. The Halo Smart Sensor not only measures air quality (like CO2 and NO2), but can also detect nicotine and THC vapes. These tools are present to help us meet our goal of ensuring a substance free school. If you would like to have more information, or have questions, please contact the office to set up a meeting with Mr. McCune, or email him at smccune@gunnisonschools.net with your questions.
Attendance
Just a reminder to please email CBSSattendance@gunnisonschools.net if your student will be absent or needs to miss any classes.
Parent/Community Access to the Building
Building access is limited to students and faculty with special access granted to school volunteers and parents by appointment. The main office foyer will be the singular access point. Please use the phone in the foyer to notify office staff of your arrival. Visitors are required to check in and out as we are responsible for your whereabouts in the case of an emergency. Thank you for honoring this limited access as we strive to ensure a safe and secure space for our students.
