2nd Semester is here, and that means it's already time to start preparing for next school year's classes. Check out this webinar hosted by IB Coordinator Ms. Day and Guidance Department Lead Dr. Olowe for all you need to know about Course Selections for the 2025-26 school year.

Friendly reminders regarding student driving: All permits are sold out for the remainder of the year, so students must have a permit to park on campus during the school day. Additionally, please remember that students drive their cars between buildings at any point during the school day. If students drive, and they do not have a permit, their car will be ticketed and/or towed at the owner's expense.

Parent University is the place for our students’ parents and parental figures to gain tools and tips for navigating the Viking high school experience. In these sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to be guided by some of our dedicated staff on topics from registration to post-secondary planning and more.

We're kicking off the Parent U's next week with Guidance Department Lead Dr. Olowe: Are you an incoming HF Freshman Parent? Join Dr. Olowe as we discuss Class of 2029 Course Registration. This essential session is designed to guide parents through the critical steps of enrolling their soon-to-be freshman in high school, including the Residency and Registration, Class Schedules and Course Selection.

Did you catch Sophomore Reagan Seye on WGN's Daytime Chicago this week? Reagan created the illustrations in the new book See Me by author Kina Arnold.

See Me is "an inspiring book written for young Black and Brown girls helping them discover their passions by introducing them to a number of career paths." Watch the feature here!

Our National Honor Society students geared up to kick off their annual MLK Day of Service with a celebratory dinner at Wiley's Grill yesterday. MLK Weekend is a prominent time for NHS students to earn service hours as they dedicate time to projects around the community. Shout out to NHS sponsors Mrs. Stewart-Williams and Mrs. Kozik!

Big congrats to our Special Olympics Red & White Basketball Team: The Vikings are headed to State!

HF is proud to again host this year's MLK Classic, "The Dream Continues", featuring a host of amazing basketball match-ups across the three-day weekend! Be sure to cheer on your Vikings as they close out the Classic versus Joliet West HS on Monday at 3:30 p.m. in the South Gym. Tickets must be purchased on GoFan.

VTV will be broadcasting the final 3 games of the MLK Hoops Tourney on Monday! Games include Hillcrest vs. Peoria, Kankakee vs. Romeoville, and of course, HF vs. Joliet West. Coverage begins at 11 a.m.

Check out our HF Thespians as they headed down to U of I for the 49th annual Illinois High School Theatre Festival this weekend! Seven of our Vikings were selected to be in the cast or crew of the All-State production of The Prom, produced by Mr. JR Willard-Rose.

This was the largest number of students selected from any one high school across the state!

Congratulations to Seniors Stella Hoyt, Tessa O’Keefe, Bryce Stewart, Chloe Pease, Junior Ash Komorowski, and Sophomores Sawyer Horcher and Robert Wakefield II.

HF Debate continues to thrive! The team competed at Rich Township last weekend with some of our JV Debaters debuting as Varsity for the first time.

Huge shout out to Sophomores Aliya Gaskin for taking 5th Place and Jada Cherry coming in 7th Place in Varsity competition!

Senior Zavier Scott landed 3rd Place Speaker and 4th Place Team. Freshman Penny Greep locked out the Novice Lincoln Douglas Division getting 1st Place in both speaker awards and team award.

It’s chilly outside, but the summer heat is just around the corner. You can cool off at HF and sign up for Summer School 2025! Summer School pre-registration is taking place online again this year.

Students interested in attending Summer School will enter their choice in Schoolinks where their counselor will approve it. Interested in taking Driver's Ed at HF? We're excited to offer Classroom Instruction and Behind-the-Wheel (for students turning 16 on or before November 1, and sophomore status) again this summer. Pre-Registration will begin on Monday, February 3.

Tickets are on sale now through February 6th for next month's Turnabout Dance, A Night in Paris, happening Saturday, February 15th at 8 p.m. at Tuscany Falls (9425 W. 191st Street in Mokena).

Senior Yearbook Portraits and Premier Sessions are quickly coming. There are limited dates for the premier sessions at HF. Make sure to schedule your appointment today to take advantage of this opportunity at HF instead of traveling to a VIP studio. In order to appear in the yearbook, all seniors must have their photo taken by VIP. Photographs submitted from other studios will NOT be accepted into the yearbook.

Flossmoor Mayor Nelson is hosting a benefit concert on this Sunday, January 19 at 4 p.m. at Flossmoor Community Church. Proceeds from the concert will support the Center for Food Equity in Medicine, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing nutritious meals to families of individuals battling life-changing health conditions. Monetary donations for the charity will be accepted at the event.
