BEYOND THE BRICKS
April 2021
FOYA
In the remote village of Foya, located hours away from Monrovia in Liberia, Beyond the Bricks, partnered with Samaritan's Purse to construct and equip a basketball court and playground for the community. Local pastors, and community leaders were involved in the project as well. We spent a week, building forms, pouring cement, welding pipes, and always under the watchful eyes of the hundreds of children who would get to play here. The end result.....lots of smiles, laughter, and a fun way to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the children and families of Foya.
Ganta Deaf School
The boys dorm at the deaf school in Ganta, Liberia is finished! The Girls dorm is well on it's way and should be finished in a few months. During our trip to Liberia, David Bennet the director of International branch of Silent Word Ministries, came to Liberia to work with the deaf and their instructors. While there, we had a celebration of all God had done for the deaf in Liberia. Living Waters Ministries has provided a well for water, and Silent Word Ministries is furnishing pig pens and chicken coops to help in the sustainability of the school. I have been amazed at all those involved in this project and how God had placed it on so many hearts at the same time to act in behalf of his beloved children. Thanks to the ministries involved and those who have contributed, we have provided the deaf a place to live while they attend school and begin to learn they too are valuable and worthwhile. In fact, so valuable that Jesus would die for them to redeem them and make them perfect in his sight!
Grace Embedded
Tony Black is from Tyler, Texas. He is a member of Grace Embedded, a ministry that exists to provide hand-made beds for children facing foster placement in East Texas. Tony came to Liberia to help construct and furnish 36 beds for the dorms of the deaf school. While there he helped build and instruct local guys in the construction of the 18 bunk beds that will be placed in both dorms at the deaf school. When Tony received the text asking him if he wanted to be apart of this project, he misread it thinking he was being asked to work in Lindale, Texas, a town 20 minutes from where he lives. But God had other plans! The text actually asked him to go to Liberia to make beds for deaf students who have nowhere to live. He immediately said yes and hopped a plane to Liberia, West Africa.....We serve a mighty God, who works in amazing ways!
