The Sheiko WeeklyUpdateSheiko Elementary: Sept. 13, 2024

PRINCIPAL UPDATE PRINCIPAL UPDATE

Thank you to all the parents and guardians who attended our Curriculum Night! Your presence and support mean so much to us as we work together to ensure the best possible learning experiences for your children. If you were unable to attend, no worries—please check your child's Canvas page, where you'll find the slides that were shared during the event. These will provide you with an overview of your child's classroom expectations and curriculum.

Our "Big Announcement" for this week is about NWEA testing. Starting Monday, we will begin NWEA testing. ELA testing will take place through September 27, and math testing will be held during the first two weeks of October. It is crucial that students arrive at school on time, are well-rested, and have nutritious meals to help them perform at their best. If possible, please try to avoid scheduling any appointments during the testing window. Please refer to your child's Friday newsletter for the exact testing dates for your student(s).

Once again, thank you for attending Curriculum Night, and for your continued partnership in your child's education. We truly appreciate your support!

I hope to see you tonight at the football field for "Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile"! Should be lots of fun!

Happy Friday!

SNACKS FOR SCHOOL SNACKS FOR SCHOOL

Snacks:

Please remember to send a healthy snack with your child each day. If student's have chips or sweets or candy, they will be asked to save it for lunch. There is a beautiful fruit and veggie bar that students can get at lunch or breakfast and save for snack at no cost for families. Thank you!

Birthday Treats:

We love to celebrate birthdays at Sheiko Elementary! We just ask that you don't send any food items. Students can bring in a book to donate to the classroom library, pencils, bookmarks, or other trinkets, but due to allergies, we cannot have food items brought in. Thanks for understanding!

FUNdRUN! FUNdRUN!

FUNd Run is only a few more weeks away and we need your help to make it a huge success! This is our primary fundraiser which helps us keep all of the wonderful, free events throughout the year such as: Trunk or Treat, Winterfest, Bingo Nights, Spring Fling Dance, and more PTO-sponsored activities. These funds also help pay for literacy, social emotional learning, select field trips and teacher appreciation. But we can't do anything without your support! Every contribution helps to ensure we can continue to provide these amazing experiences for our students and community.

Visit the FUNd Run Donation Page and search for your child's first name and last initial.

Here, you can make a donation as well as share the link with friends and family.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO BE COMPLETED IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO BE COMPLETED

Please be sure you have your back-to-school information filled out, and thank you if you have already filled it out! It is especially important because of the "in-district field trip form" that is now included in these forms.

Every form you need to fill out for the start of the school year and links to key departments are all on the Back 2 School Central page under the Parents dropdown menu on the district website wbsd.org.

Please also fill out the nutrition form.even if you don't think you will qualify for additional benefits. It helps with the funding that we receive for our schools. The free and reduced meals application is now called the "Education and Nutrition Benefits Application. Breakfast and lunch is free for all students, but filling out the form helps to fund this program.

Thank you in advance!
