Welcome to Park Brook Elementary

A note from the principal
Dear Park Brook Families,
As we close the 2024 - 2025 year, I begin to look forward to the 2025 - 2026 school year. However, I also look forward to slowing down this summer and taking time to simply enjoy time off.
I will take time to read, as I hope students will do as well. In addition, I plan to spend time outside gardening and hopefully spending some time biking, kayaking, and simply getting some exercise.
I would be remiss to not state how thankful I am to have the privilege to work with the Park Brook Community.
The story of the last couple of weeks is told below in pictures, perhaps too many pictures, but not enough to capture all of my precious students.
I wish everyone, families and staff, a relaxing, enjoyable summer.

3rd Grade Woodworking
Most grades spend time in the woodshop every year. Mr. Nelson, Behavior Intervention Teacher along with volunteers make this program possible at Park Brook. The project for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students this year was a leaf shelf. Students select the pattern they want, either a maple or oak leaf, trace the pattern, and then work to cut out the leaf, cut other pieces, sand, and assemble.
Retirement Celebration
Mrs. Cohn, RN; Mrs. Orton, first-grade teacher; Mrs. Opatz, special education teacher
'R' Day in Kindergarten - Race Car
The last 26 days of school, kindergarten students have fun with a different letter for each of the days. May 27 was R Day. Mr. Taylor's dad was a race car driver and held a land-speed record for over 30 years in the car pictured. Mr. Taylor shared about his dad who raced on the Bonneville Salt Flats, and also about the Indy 500 since the Indy 500 took place over the weekend.

Park Brook Night at McDonald's
Tuesday, June 3 - 7685 West Broadway
Thank you to the Brooklyn Park McDonald's for their generous donation to Park Brook and the fun-filled evening on June 3.
Focus on Fitness
As part of our Focus on Fitness, we encourage all students to get at least 60 minutes of exercise every day. Students do not call it exercise, rather they call it play.
Increasing fitness levels and movement, increases academic growth, positive behaviors, and is good for mental health.
