School Principal's Message

Reutter School Families,

Caroline L. Reutter School engaged in a variety of school climate initiatives, professional growth opportunities, and instructional activities this week. To promote health awareness and positive character, the school community participated in a Pink Day for Breast Cancer Awareness on Wednesday, followed by a Character Trait Color Day on Friday. On Wednesday afternoon, faculty and staff gathered for a general meeting to review the updated administrative walkthrough form, analyze feedback from recent community surveys, and coordinate operational logistics for upcoming parent-teacher conferences.

In the classroom, fifth-grade students displayed high engagement as they began reading Number the Stars during ELA instruction. Furthermore, after-school clubs and co-curricular programs are now fully underway. Students are actively participating across a wide range of offerings, including chorus members practicing holiday music, Fitness Club participants exercising in the gymnasium, and Math Explorations Club members tackling complex problem-solving activities.

Finally, our student council will be hosting Halloween Festivities on Friday, October 30. Students will be permitted to "dress in costume" throughout the school day (optional) pending their costumes are within the guidelines for our school dress code. Costume props and Inflatable Costumes will not be permitted. Classroom "gatherings" will be incorporated into the day's schedule for the students to gather and enjoy a small treat with their homeroom peers. In addition, there will be separate, grade-level "socials" for the students to mingle while listening to music. As the students enter the gym for the "social" there will also be a costume contest. The student council would like to thank the PTO and Parents in advance for their donation of refreshments for this fun event.

Sincerely,

Mr. Theodore Peters

Principal

Fifth Grade ELA

Fifth-grade ELA students at Caroline L. Reutter School are currently reading Lois Lowry's historical fiction novel, Number the Stars. Through this unit, students are analyzing key literary elements, including character development, central themes of courage and friendship, and historical context, while building critical reading comprehension and vocabulary skills.

Week of Respect Recognition

During our Week of Respect, faculty and staff distributed raffle tickets to students demonstrating respectful behavior toward others. Earlier this week, Mrs. Roberts, School Counselor, drew the winning tickets and invited those students to the main office to receive a small treat.
