Did You Know?
CSD uses robocalls and emergency messaging sparingly to update families in emergency, time-sensitive situations. Here are more details If you are not receiving emergency messaging, you may check your messaging preferences in the following ways:
- Emergency messages will come directly to the CSD app. Download the app in the App Store or Google Play.
- If you did not receive robocalls from CSD on Monday regarding the water main break, you may have a robocall blocker on your phone. Please save CSD's phone number to your contact list to receive these calls in the future: (404) 371-3601.
- CSD SMS text messages now come from the number (404) 328-7953. Messages will no longer come from the previous number, 54968. This change was made to improve the reliability and speed of our text message delivery. Please save this new number to your contacts for immediate recognition.

CSD 2025-26 Student Board Representative Elected Southeast Regional Vice President of National Student Board Member Association
Nia Batra, a DHS senior and student representative on the Board of Education, was elected as the Southeast Regional Vice President of the National Student Board Member Association (NSBMA), a student-led organization for high school students serving on school boards nationwide.
"As CSD is the first in the state to create this role, I'm really excited to share the power of my role across the nation, especially in the South," Batra said. "I hope to collaborate with NSBMA in advancing legislation in the state of Georgia to allow for the addition of a student board member to Georgia school boards, as well as provide NSBMA with the lessons I've learned serving the district."
BHMS Students Share School Inside Scoop with "The Morning Show"
Reporting live from BHMS! The Beacon Hill news show, The Morning Show, is a student-led broadcast where viewers can hear opinions directly from students, learn about projects and clubs happening across the school, and even hear about what's for lunch. Students in Damon Peebles' class write the scripts, operate the cameras, present the news and edit the final product. Check out this week's show for some fun and fascinating information about what's going on at BHMS.
See past episodes of The Morning Show here. Great job to the students and staff who make this show happen!
"You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown" Has Outstanding Opening Night
Congratulations to the two casts of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, which opened this week! This warm-hearted, family-friendly musical brings Charles M. Schulz's iconic Peanuts characters to life through music, humor, and timeless charm. Tickets are still available for this all-ages show, presented by DHS students and Decatur Performs. Buy tickets now at DecaturPerforms.org.
Winnona Park Wildcats Keep the Beat in Music Class
It was a pitch-perfect morning at Winnona Park. Students in Kim Houston's second-grade class played and performed to the song "Draw a Bucket of Water." While some students played an ostinato (repeating pattern) on the xylophone, others played a singing game while holding hands. Thanks to their music teacher, Cindy Clark, they are hitting the right notes.
Snapshot of CSD: Talley St. Students are Electric
This week, Talley St. fifth-graders in Alicia Reno's STEM class worked with Snap Circuits, using switches, resistors, wires and more that snap together to create electrical circuits. They will use this knowledge to use batteries, lights and wires to electrify a house created by Talley St. third- and fourth-graders.
