Principal's Corner
Dear Hirsch Hawk Parents and Guardians,
Thank you to all of the families who joined us for our Family Valentine’s Dance on Friday! It was a beautiful evening filled with smiles, laughter, and special moments. We hope you were able to make lasting memories with your child—we certainly enjoyed celebrating with you.
As we head into this week, we want to highlight a few important dates and reminders.
Monday – Presidents Day
On Monday, we celebrate Presidents Day, a federal holiday that honors the leadership and legacy of our nation’s presidents, particularly George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Over time, the day has come to recognize the contributions of all U.S. presidents and the role leadership plays in shaping our country.
Presidents Day reminds us of the importance of civic responsibility, perseverance, service, and leadership—values we work to instill in our students every day. It’s a great opportunity to talk with your child about what leadership means and how they can make a positive difference in their own community.
Tuesday & Wednesday – Intervention Days
Tuesday and Wednesday will be our Intervention Days, dedicated to providing targeted support for invited students who require additional time to close academic gaps. If your child received an invitation, please ensure they are present and on time. These small-group opportunities are intentionally designed to strengthen skills and build confidence.
Thursday – Parent/Teacher Conference Day
Thursday is Parent/Teacher Conference Day. This is an important time for you to receive updates on your child’s academic progress, ask questions, and partner with teachers to support continued growth.
Friday – Student Holiday
Friday is a student holiday, as our teachers will be engaged in professional development. This time allows our staff to refine instruction, strengthen systems, and continue learning so we can better serve your children.
We hope this mid-winter break allows students to get needed rest, benefit from intentional small-group instruction, and gives families meaningful time to connect with teachers about student progress.
As always, thank you for your partnership and continued support. Together, we are ensuring every Hirsch student has what they need to succeed.
With appreciation,
Principal Patterson

This February, Spring ISD proudly celebrates Black History Month by honoring the diversity that makes our district special — from students and teachers to principals and essential staff — all working together to build a community rooted in learning, growth, and belonging.
The 2026 theme, “A Century of Black History Commemorations,” marks 100 years since Dr. Carter G. Woodson launched Negro History Week in 1926. It highlights the evolution of Black history celebrations, their impact on society, and our ongoing commitment to ensuring an accurate and inclusive history for all.
