On Wednesday afternoon, I received the heartbreaking news that Mrs. Shaina Shaver, a teacher in Builta’s specialized program for the past five years, passed away following an illness.

Mrs. Shaver was a cherished member of our Builta community. She cared deeply about her students and was dedicated to making a difference in their lives each day. She was a compassionate and supportive colleague and friend who made meaningful connections with the children, families and staff members she worked with. Above all, she was a loving mother and wife.

Mrs. Shaver touched the lives of so many in our school community. Her kindness, dedication, and the care she showed for others will not be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Our hearts go out to Mrs. Shaver's family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. We are keeping them in our thoughts as they navigate this tremendous loss.

Blue Ribbon Celebration!

A big thank-you to our PTA for surprising our staff with delicious blueberry muffins in recognition of our Blue Ribbon School recognition! We appreciate your thoughtfulness and continued support!

Around Builta

• 1st Grade Field Trip: Our first graders enjoyed a fun and educational visit to the Children's Museum! Thank you to our parent volunteers who helped make this trip a success.

• Picture Retake Day: We held our picture retake day this week. A big thank-you to our parent volunteers who gave their time to help the day run smoothly. We appreciate your time and support!

• Kindergarten Pumpkin Lab: Our kindergarten students enjoyed their Pumpkin Lab this week! A big thank-you to our kindergarten families who volunteered their time and helped make this such a fun and engaging learning experience for our students. We appreciate you!

• PTA Kindness Challenge: We had a wonderful kickoff assembly to launch our Kindness Challenge! We are excited to see our students putting kindness into action throughout the school and in their community. Be sure to check out the PTA Kindness Challenge Video and PTA Kindness Challenge News.

Illinois State Report Card

The Illinois State Report Cards are being released today, and we are excited to share that Builta has earned an Exemplary School designation! This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our students, staff, families, and school community. We are proud of all that our Builta community continues to accomplish. Important Dates – No School

A reminder that there is no school on the following days:

• Monday, November 2: No school due to parent-teacher conferences.

• Tuesday, November 3: No school in observance of Election Day.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Wednesday, November 4.
