Morning Devotion & Weekly Chapel
What does a typical week at CCS look like?
We start each day with morning devotion and all students participate in weekly chapel services.
At the lower school campus, PK through 6th Grade begin the day in the gym with a song of worship, a scripture devotion, and the doxology. For students in the upper school, morning singing and devotion happens between 1st and 2nd period classes each day.
Some of this week's scriptures were:
- Matthew 28:19-20
- Matthew 10:7-8
- Mark 13:5-13
- Mark 13:33
A Look Back at the Week
Seed Sowing
Seeds, both physical and spiritual, are being planted each day at CCS! Students are learning about God's creations and the miracles all around us. Just as we trust that the seeds we plant in our gardens will produce fruit and vegetables, we pray that the seeds of the truth of God's word will grow in the hearts and minds of our students.
Preview Show
Lower school students got a sneak peek of the spring musical as the upper school cast performed a few numbers from the Mary Poppins, Jr. play.
Student Leaders
Student leaders continue to emerge as more students volunteer to lead devotion, praise and prayer.
Pets on Parade
What a fun afternoon! Lower school students had a blast watching their family pets on parade. This fun event was hosted by the PTF. Special thanks to Mary Tischler for organizing the pet parade and for providing Scooby Snacks for all the students!
4th Congressional Art Competition
Several of Mrs. Griffin's art students had their creations on display at the 2026 Arts Competition Awards Ceremony. At this event, student artists from the area were recognized and celebrated for their outstanding work for the Fourth Congressional Competition with Robert Aderholt's office.
Art Winner
Iowa and CogAT
Students in 2nd through 6th grade began the Iowa Assessment. They will finish this coming week, just in time for some fun in the sun at the annual field day.
Guitar Picking
Mrs. Warden's guitar students have improved so much! Most of them have been able to take a turn to lead morning worship. Who knows... these may be future worship leaders in their churches!
Archer Season
Congratulations to all of our outstanding archers on completing a fantastic, successful season! Special thanks to our parent volunteers who dedicated so much time to coach and lead our teams!
Prayer Partners
Thank you to all the teachers and staff who sponsored a member of the spring play cast. Sponsors were asked to pray over the students and treat them with their favorite goodies.
Fruit or Vegetable?
Warmer weather brings fresh goodies from the garden! Some of our little Lions have been learning more this week about the differences between fruits and vegetables.
Waltz Anyone?
Lots of giggles could be heard by 7th and 8th graders who were learning how to waltz this week.
Field Day Events Just Ahead
Lower school PE classes have been training and getting ready to compete during this year's field day activities. Field Day at the lower school will be held on Friday, April 24th.
Spring Musical
WOW! What a show!
The upper school Fine and Performing Arts Department presented Mary Poppins, Jr. this weekend. The show was phenomenal! The cast included 50 students and the event took place at St. John's Church.
Congratulations to the entire cast for delivering a truly delightful and entertaining performance! From the choreography, to the vocals, to the stage and production efforts, all your hard work was evident.
The cast and crew will take their performance on the road on Tuesday as they travel back to the Lovelady Center to do a special showing for the residents. We are so excited about this extended ministry opportunity! Upper school students were able to volunteer some time serving at the Lovelady Thrift stores during Spiritual Emphasis Week. During this time of service we learned more about the over 500 women and their children who are currently being ministered to there. The performance will be for those women and children.
Be sure to check out the picture folder link at the bottom of the newsletter!
Event Information
Parents, family members, and friends are always welcome on Tuesday mornings for a dedicated weekly prayer time. This meeting takes place in the lunch area at the Beech Campus immediately following morning devotion on Tuesdays.

What if I missed the original email? What are we fundraising for?
We have had so many exciting things happening recently at CCS and this announcement will be no different. As many of you know with growth and progress comes the need for additional financial support. In an effort to fundraise but not over ask we are launching a joint effort for the first time to help support several areas of the school that are in need.
This year we have kicked off our Athletic Booster Club and embarked on an expansion at the Beech Ave Campus. Both of these projects directly support our students by helping strengthen our programs, expand our school, and continue building a thriving community for our families.
Fundraising with our Purpose and Mission
At CCS our purpose is to further the kingdom of God by preparing students to impact the world. We feel one way to do that is by supporting missions both close to home and internationally. With our purpose in mind, we will not keep all of the funds raised for ourselves but will tithe a portion back. We are partnering with ONE30 and a mission group that will be making a trip to Uganda this summer. The group will include several students from CCS; their family will be assisting missionaries to educate local families about hygiene and healthy lifestyles. They will be taking hygiene products to distribute and CCS will be helping to purchase some of these items as well as give a donation to ONE30.
Every donation and ticket sold helps invest directly into our athletics, classrooms, and future growth. This fundraiser is a meaningful way for families to partner with the school and model generosity, service, and community involvement for our children. Thank you for your continued support and for helping make this fundraiser a success.
