Collection COVID Testing Event

On Wednesday, October 27 the school will have our first collection PCR testing event. Only those families who opted their child in can participate. If you have not opted in yet, you can still sign your child up (see information below). We will begin testing as early as 8:00 am in case families wanted to drop off their child to school early. They would go to the library door to buzz and they will be escorted to the nurse's clinic. Once they are done they will go to the gym. If you cannot get your child in before school, we can get them tested once they get to school. Again, only those that have opted in will get tested. The actual test will be a very simple, painless, and quick swap of both nostrils. We have trained staff that will assist with the swabbing. If you have any questions, please give the school a call.

Here is the information regarding the program:

Our district has chosen to participate in Operation Expanded Testing, a program supported and

funded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to provide COVID-19 PCR

testing to K-12 schools at no cost to the school. Participation in this program helps schools stay safer against the risk of COVID-19. This program will help keep students in the classroom and prevent the spread of COVID-19 via weekly testing for students and staff. Four staff members which includes myself and Nurse Tara have been trained.

To opt into the program, please visit the following site: Link to register child for testing

The registration process takes less than 5 minutes. For a short video guide on “how to” complete the registration/consent, activate your child’s online account to view results: View Video Here

From the Gardening Group

Ms. D's class have been working hard weeding the garden beds to prepare for the winter. We are in need of weekend volunteers to weed the remaining beds. We are also asking for donations of sun loving perennials. Perhaps you are thinning and transplanting your own gardens in this beautiful October weather! Please leave any donation, clearly labeled, on the side of the brick building (on the strip of weeds/dirt) to the left of the library entrance. If you have any questions, thoughts, or ideas, (or if you are able to volunteer), please contact Cristina at cldag@chariho.k12.ri.us.

students spreading Kindness

While at recess today, these 6 students in Mrs. St Clair's fourth grade class decided to make everyone at school aware to be kind to people and animals. So proud of these children to take it upon themselves to spread the word of KINDNESS!!!!

THANK YOU EMMA, EMILY, EMMA, MARTIN, LYDIA, AND HUNTER (left to right)! Way to make us all proud!

Parachute Testing

Students in Mrs. Carmack's class testing out their parachutes for a science activity.

Identification

PLEASE be sure parents who are picking up children early from school have proper identification with them when they come to the front door. Ms. Donna is not always the one in the office and we must verify who is picking up the children. Thank you for your undivided attention to this request.

Parking

Parking in the parking lot is for staff ONLY. We are having issues with parents dropping off children in the morning and taking up a staff parking spot which is causing staff members to be late which is becoming problematic. Also, some staff end up getting blocked since we have double parking at the end of the day. If parents need to come to the building, PLEASE either park in front of the school or at Langworthy Field and walk up the stairs to the main front door.

School Picture Day is Nov 4th

Updated RIDOH Guidance

A hard copy was sent home today as well but below is an image of updated COVID guidance.

Celebrations Outside of School

Throughout the district, there have been some inquiries regarding passing out birthday invitations. With the concerns with COVID, schools will not be passing out personal invitations or non-district events at this time unless it’s an approved organization event that is required to follow COVID protocols. We are sorry for this inconvenience.
