Good Morning,
Family Pets:
We have recently noticed an increase in family pets, particularly dogs, accompanying parents during student pick-up and drop-off times. While we understand that it can be a joyful moment for your pet to greet your child, we kindly ask that pets remain at home during these times.
Some of our WECC school community are fearful of dogs and/or have severe allergies, and we want to ensure that every member of our school feels safe and comfortable. While our pets are familiar to us, that may not be true for others, especially as a barking dog can be misinterpreted as aggressive and can cause anxiety and discomfort to members of our WECC school community.
As always, safety is one of our top priorities, and we appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all.
Parent Teacher Conferences are upcoming on April 1 and 2. Families will receive a letter via email from your child's teacher this week with more information. If you have trouble registering for conferences, you can always call the WECC school office at 781-335-0191.
On Tuesday, 4/1, there will be a half day for all WECC students to accommodate the afternoon conference schedule. Tuesday's conferences are virtual via Google Meet from 11:45-2:30 and Wednesday night's conferences, 4/2 are in person from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Picture Day:
Lifetouch will be here to photograph students on April 2, 3. Families will have the opportunity to purchase an individual picture a class picture, or both.

Community Service Project:
Thank you to the families that have donated to the Weymouth Food Pantry. Donations will continue to be accepted from March 1 through March 15. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
Here is a wonderful story to watch that can help to explain why we are collecting food, called Maddi's Fridge. This story is read by Jennifer Garner and written by Lois Brandt. The story, very gently, addresses the issue of food insecurity and poverty. Thank you to Mrs. Connolly for sharing this story with us.

About this Series
The Backpack Connection Series was created by TACSEI to provide a way for teachers and parents/caregivers to work together to help young children develop social emotional skills and reduce challenging behavior.
Each Backpack Connection handout provides information that helps parents stay informed about what their child is learning at school and specific ideas on how to use the strategy or skill at home
How to Help Your Child Stop Biting
I'm a Super Reader
Help us reach our goal of 10,000 books
One of the most important gifts we can give our children is to help them learn to read and write so that they can succeed in school and beyond. Confident, active readers are able to use their reading skills to follow their passions and curiosity about the world. We all read for a purpose: to be entertained, to take a journey of the imagination, to connect with others, to figure out how to do something, and to learn about history, science, the arts, and everything else.
We hope to foster the love of reading in our students. Please help us by helping your child read each day. Attached is a reading chart that your child can color each time they read a book. Bring the reading chart to school once all apples are colored and your child will receive a Super Reader sticker. You may choose to only read 10 books per month or submit as many reading charts as you want. We will be keeping track by classroom. If JECC students reach the goal of 10,000 books, we will have a Bubble party at the end of the year.
Help our students reach their goal!

Parent Council
Thank you to the WECC Parent Council for your generosity by purchasing 8 new kitchen sets for the classroom dramatic play areas. Students and staff are so appreciative of these beautiful sets! We know that play kitchens help to foster imaginative play, creativity, social interactions and problem solving skills.
More information about the WECC 2nd Annual PC Dance Party will be sent home this week. Check you child's backpack for a flier.
