Please read more about our Cell Phone & Personal Device School Policy

As we start this exciting school year, I want to remind you that Shoemaker High School is a cell phone-free campus from 8 a.m. to 4:20 p.m. This includes Personal devices such as: smartwatches, earbuds headphones, & personal computers or tablets. These items should not be on campus and must be put away during these hours.

Our goal is to minimize distractions and keep students focused on learning and engagement. Phones are available throughout the campus if students need to contact you, and in case of an emergency, we will notify families promptly.

We appreciate your support in reinforcing this policy at home. For questions or concerns, please reach out to the district at phonefreeschools@killeenisd.org.

Thank you for your partnership, and let's make this year the best one yet!

Entry Procedures for Students All students are required to report to the front of the building for entry, including bus riders and those being dropped off. This means that once students exit their vehicles, they will need to walk to the front entrance. Please follow this procedure for safety and organization.

For Students with ID Cards, Cell Phone Pouches & Clear or Mesh Bags:

  • Enter through Door #2.
  • Open your pouch before entering.
  • Power off your phone and place it inside the pouch.
  • After passing through the Entry Shield system (metal detector), an AP or staff member will lock your pouch and return it to you.
  • Proceed to the designated area (cafĆ© or 1100 hallway) until the bell rings.

For Students without ID Cards, Pouches or Clear/ Mesh Bag :

  • Enter through Door #40.
  • Walk through the Entry Shield system and log any ID or pouch violations at a computer.
  • You will have one last chance to secure your phone in a pouch or turn it in before entering the hallways.
  • If your phone is confiscated during the day, you will automatically move to Step 2 of the district's cell phone consequence policy.
  • You will then be directed to your designated area (cafĆ© or 1100 hallway).

Important Reminder: Treat Yondr pouches like ID cards. Students must bring them to school every day, even if they do not have a phone.

Important Reminders: Important Reminders:

  • Tardy Policy:
Please encourage your student to arrive on time to their classes to avoid any disruptions. We’ve implemented a 30-second reminder before the tardy bell to help students get to class on time.

  • Student IDs:
All students must have their ID visible at all times—worn around the neck, not on backpacks or around the waist. This is crucial for maintaining campus security.

  • Early Release Students:
Students with early release Must leave campus when they do not have classes. A student who stays on campus and is found wandering the hall may loose their early release. Roaming the hallways is not permitted for safety reasons.

  • Missed Bus to KCC/CTC: If your student misses the bus, they should notify the front office, and we will assist in resolving the situation. However, if the situation cannot be resolved, students must stay in the library until their next class on campus begins. Roaming the hallways is not permitted for safety reasons.

  • Cell Phone and Electronic Devices Policy: Yondr Pouches will be used for electronic devises such as cell phones. Starting Monday, August 18th, we'll begin enforcing consequences for having electronic devices like cell phones, smartwatches, personal devices, earbuds, and headphones out during the school day from 8:00 AM to 4:20 PM.

  • Important Information for Parents: Each secondary student will be assigned a personal, secure pouch for their cell phone at the start of the school year. Students are expected to bring this pouch to school daily and return it in good condition at the end of the year.
    • We understand that some parents may choose not to provide their students with cell phones or may prefer that their students not bring electronic devices to school. If your student does bring a device, they must either surrender it to the appropriate assistant principal or request a secure pouch in line with Administrative Procedure VI-EE.

    • Electronic Devices (per KISD Policy):

Ā· Students may not display, turn on, or use phones or other personal electronic devices during instructional hours 8:00 am -4:20 pm, Monday through Friday.

Ā· This includes using personal devices for texting, calling, video recording, using headphones or personal earbuds, and charging personal devices on school property.

Ā· Headphones or earbuds that cannot be locked into a Yondr pouch—such as Beats-style over-ear headphones—are not allowed on campus.

Ā· Students may not bring personal laptops, iPads, tablets, or similar personal computing devices to school.
