Welcome Back!

It is so quiet and boring around here during the summer, and I am beyond excited to see all of your faces again! I can't wait to hear about your vacations, catch up on life updates, and soak up all of that back-to-school energy.

While you may be feeling a little sad that summer is coming to an end, I know there is also excitement in the air. There are new students to meet, new staff members to welcome, and colleagues to reconnect with after a long summer apart. And don't worry, I'll probably have a few icebreakers ready to make the day even more fun. (Cue evil laughter.)

In all seriousness, I feel incredibly lucky to be starting my third year here with all of you. You are the reason Woodland is such a special place. I genuinely love coming to work each day and feel honored to be part of this community. I look forward to seeing the creativity, passion, and dedication you bring to your classrooms this year, and the positive impact you will have on our students every single day. You truly are an amazing group of educators.

Enjoy these last few days of freedom and relaxation. Soak up every minute. But remember, on Wednesday, you're coming home to Woodland.

We're excited to welcome you back, and we're thrilled to introduce some new faces to our family.

Oh, and bring your laptops to our meeting on Wednesday.

New Faces at Woodland New Faces at Woodland

We've had some staff retire, others relocate, and some come back to us! Please welcome (or re-welcome) our new Woodland staff!

Paige Walsh

Paige will be working as the new second grade special educator. You will most likely recognize her face because she was Allison Bednarsky's student teacher last year! Welcome, Paige!

Maeve Dingley

Maeve is the newest member of the kindergarten team coming straight out of Stonehill College. Maeve was active in lots of extracurriculars, so Cheer Committee, scoop her up! Welcome, Maeve!

Miranda Miranda

Yes, you read that right, the gal with two first names. Miranda is a Law student at Western New England University and an Arizona State University grad. She's also a former behavior technician/RBT, which is why he will be working in our Discovery program! Welcome, Miranda!

Melissa Baldyga

Melissa has been in childcare for quite a while working at Roots Learning Center and YMCA. She's also a mom to four girls, so you know she's ready for anything. She will be working in our Discovery program as well. Welcome, Melissa!

Kali Landry

Kali is changing careers, going from retail at Smith College to Discrete Trials in our Discovery room. It may seem like a crazy switch, but her kind and calm demeanor make her a perfect fit for Discovery! Welcome, Kali!

Annika LaFlamme

Not new to the district, but new to us, is Annika. She worked as a paraprofessional last year at Powder Mill, but she heard how awesome it is here and decided to make the switch! She will be replacing Connor and working with Mason. Welcome, Annika!

Gabby Houle

Not new to Woodland, but coming back to us is Gabby. She spent the majority of the year as a 3rd grade special education teacher, but she couldn't resist the siren song of Woodland. Welcome back, Gabby!

A Request from Kayla A Request from Kayla

If you were here last year, you may remember the fun summer slideshow we put together and watched during our opening days. It was a great way to see what everyone had been up to over the summer and gave us an opportunity to connect and spark conversations about our adventures!

We’d love to do it again this year! Please email Kayla up to 3 pictures from your summer. By sending your pictures to her, you are giving permission for them to be included in the slideshow that will be shared with staff during opening days.

Please include a brief caption with your photos so everyone knows what they’re looking at, especially if the location or activity isn’t immediately obvious.

We had such a great response to the slideshow last year, and we’re looking forward to seeing what everyone has been up to this summer!

Email those pictures Kayla’s way (kbrady@stgrsd.org) so they are all in one place and she can easily keep track of who each photo is from! 📸🌲☀️
