Bear Buzz, September 2023
Building a tradition of excellence one Bear at a time!
Mission Statement: Bryan High School, in partnership with students, families, and the community, provides a student-centered learning environment that cultivates character, fosters academic excellence, and embraces diversity to prepare students for post-secondary opportunity and career readiness.
Bryan High Families,
If you are reading this right now, you are one of the many Bears in our community who support our students. Thank you for surrounding our students with the essentials for growth and learning. Here is some additional support we offer our students and families.
School-Based Health Center: OPS partners with One World Community Health Center to provide quality health care at Bryan High. With parent/guardian consent, students and families can be treated and prescribed medication for many illnesses that keep students out of the classroom.
Food Pantry: Families in need of nutritional support can participate in Bryan High’s food pantry. Please reach out to the school, Ms. Jennifer Sather, Social Worker, and Ms. Sheila Lahmann, School Counselor, directly for help.
After-School Tutoring: All students are welcome to attend tutoring every Tuesday and Thursday in the Library from 3:15-5:15 pm. There are teachers of each core content area available to help students.
Academic Support and Tutoring: Students can access online tutoring seven days a week via the Clever dashboard on their iPad. The service is called Paper and offers live, 1:1 chat tutoring to support over 200 subject and is available in English, Spanish, French, and Mandarin.
Latino Parent Night: Parents interested in becoming more involved are invited to attend. Topics include media safety, college, counseling, and keeping your student on track. All events are offered in Spanish, and meeting dates are 9/28, 11/2, 2/29, and 4/11.
It takes all of us to help students reach the graduation finish line. There are many Bears, but only one Bryan High!
