Farewell To Our Editor Farewell To Our Editor

zoom_out_map
Since our inaugural issue in the spring of 2018, Miya Wolff has served as an Editor of The Red and Black. She took the sole responsibility as Head Editor this school year and has led the staff in producing quality content about events at Dryden Junior/Senior High School.

This is Miya's final issue, as the Class of 2021 finishes classes this week. Ava DeVlaminck will succeed Miya as Editor. We are extremely grateful to Miya for her leadership, and we know she will succeed as she moves on to The University of Michigan Ann Arbor in the fall. Thank you, Miya, and good luck!

Prom 2K21 Prom 2K21

This year's prom was a night to remember, as Dryden High School's juniors and seniors were invited to Forest Hall for an enchanted evening of dinner and dancing. Along with the catered dinner and delicious desserts were outdoor games like cornhole and spikeball. The photo booth was another popular attraction, where everyone stopped to capture the night with their friends. Much of the night was spent on the dancefloor, where the DJ kept the crowd alive and entertained. Seniors circled the floor for the playing of their senior song, a heartwarming moment for the class of 2021 enjoying their final dance together.

Halfway through the night, the results of the voting for Prom King and Queen were announced. Congratulations to Jack Kaplan and Erin Boettcher!

At the end of the night, all guests were given a gift box to take home, which included some items decorated to remember Prom 2021. Thank you to everyone who helped to make the night a success, we could not have had such a wonderful night without you!

The team finished out the week by heading to Kingston, where their luck, unfortunately, stayed the same, as they lost both games with the scores being 8-2 and 10-0.

This week, the Lady Cardinals are seeking redemption with another full week of double-headers. First, the girls will be playing Caseville at home on Monday. Then on Wednesday, the team will be traveling to Lutheran Northwest, followed by Mayville at home on Thursday. Good luck this week, ladies!

Bryce Davis

by Lily Finnigan

Today in our random student spotlight is Bryce Davis! Bryce is a seventh-grader who has been attending school at Dryden for the past seven years. At Dryden, Bryce plays basketball and baseball. Outside of school, he likes to jump on his trampoline and play basketball. Bryce is looking forward to playing Varsity sports once he gets into high school. After high school, he is planning on attending Kettering University. His dream job is to design cars for Ferrari. Bryce says the hardest thing about COVID is having to wear a mask all of the time. He would like us to know he is moving this year but he enjoyed his time at Dryden. Congratulations, Bryce!

Jana Dieckmann

by Lily Finnigan

Also in our random student spotlight today is Jana Dieckmann! Jana is a junior who is experiencing her first year at Dryden. Jana is a foreign exchange student from northern Germany. One of Jana’s hobbies is doing gymnastics, and she says her favorite thing about Dryden is how different it is from her school at home. Outside of school, Jana enjoys reading, doing puzzles, and traveling. After high school, Jana plans on attending college to do something with medicine or sports. Jana says the hardest thing about COVID was having to come to the United States and say goodbye to her family and friends. Congratulations, Jana!
