Updates and Info from Dr. T

Farley Elementary School - October 24, 2025

Updates andInfo from Dr. TFarley Elementary School - October 24, 2025

Next week! Next week!

Because all Pre-K classes will be closed next week, Tuesday through Friday, as teachers and staff are attending the Alabama Early Childhood Conference in Birmingham, our Red Ribbon Week activities will look a little different. Please note that Friday is also a half day.

Monday – Too Smart for Drugs
Wear a book character costume! This can also be your Halloween costume as long as it’s not scary and no masks are worn.
😉 Hooray for Hollywood program for K and Pre-K at 8:30 AM

Tuesday – Team Up Against Drugs
Wear your favorite sports jersey or your team’s colors.

Wednesday – We Choose to Be Drug Free
Show your school spirit by wearing a Farley shirt or Farley blue.

Thursday – Follow Your Dreams
Wear school-appropriate pajamas.

Friday – Don’t Be Crazy, Be Drug Free
Go wild with crazy hair, socks, and mismatched clothes!

📚👨🏻‍💻

Grades 3–5 are also taking the Pre-ACAP as practice starting next week. This assessment will help students become familiar with the testing format and question types they’ll encounter in the spring, while also giving teachers valuable insight into areas where additional review or support may be needed.

Attendance Attendance

Parents may excuse only 8 days for the entire school year.

Parents - remember that excuse notes must be submitted promptly. The HCS expectation is that within 3 days, a parent or doctor's note is submitted to the school. After 8 excused absences (not individual notes), students must have a doctor's note. A student checked out before 11:30AM is considered absent unless they check back in.

Chronic Absenteeism is defined as a student missing 18 or more days for the school year, regardless of reason.
