Principal's Message

Hello Lincoln Families,

As we jump in to November, it is important to touch on attendance. Every day is important for your child's learning. Students who miss more than 10% of the school year or 1-2 days per month are considered chronically absent and that can negatively impact them.

  • Children who are chronically absent in preschool, kindergarten, and first grade are much less likely to read at grade level by the third grade. Students who cannot read at grade level by the end of third grade are four times more likely than proficient readers to drop out of high school.
  • Students who are chronically absent in the early years of their education miss crucial school readiness skills such as critical and creative thinking and problem-solving. This negatively affects social and emotional development.
  • Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school year, or about 18 days in most districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and is known as chronic absenteeism.

Please see the Colorado Department of Health's "How Sick is Too Sick", which will help you determine if your child is too sick for school.

If you are unsure, please bring your student to our health office and we can evaluate if your son/daughter is too sick to be at school.

Additionally, I would like to take a moment to remind everyone about our Hub at Lincoln. It is a place where we can connect you with temporary food and clothing resources. Additionally, we can get you connected with other resources within Larimer County including employment services, the Food Bank, Housing resources, and many other services. I encourage you to reach out to Tanya Santacruz at Tanya.Santacruz@tsd.org or at 970-613-6200 if this is something you may need to access.

Along those same lines, please consider completing the free and reduced lunch form. Each year the for needs to be submitted for requalification. The application process is quick and confidential. You can complete the form online at https://linqconnect.com/public/meal-application/new or by completing a paper copy and returning it to Lincoln. If you need help completing it, please don’t hesitate to contact our school office at 970-613-6200.

Warmly,

Ms. Stott

Attendance Letters Attendance Letters

New Attendance Letter Process

We wanted to share an update about a new district-wide process for attendance communication this year. The district has now enabled an automated attendance letter system, which will send notifications to families when a student reaches 4, 7, 10, and 30 days absent. These letters are designed to keep families informed about their child’s attendance and to help identify any potential attendance concerns early on.

Please know that while these letters are automatically generated, we still greatly appreciate your continued communication when your child will be absent. We understand that illnesses and family circumstances come up, and we do not expect students to attend school when they are sick.

Thank you for helping us support strong attendance and a healthy learning environment for all students!

To encourage positive attendance at our school, we are excited to launch a monthly attendance challenge!

Each class that maintains 94% attendance or higher by the end of the month will be invited to a glow-in-the-dark dance party in the gym, complete with a special treat! ✨

This month, there’s an extra bonus: families of students in each class who reach the goal will be entered into a drawing for a Safeway gift card! 🛒

Let’s keep showing up and shining together! 💛💙

The Hub at Lincoln The Hub at Lincoln

The Hub is officially open! Last year, you told us through surveys what you’d like to see in a family resource center—and this space is your ideas come to life.

Here’s what you’ll find inside:

  • A calm, private spot for families, staff, and community partners to meet
  • A cozy coffee & tea bar ☕
  • A clothing closet with gently used items for kids and adults—set up so families can choose for themselves 👕
  • A food pantry and hygiene products for short-term help, while we connect families to longer-term resources 🥫
  • Community resource connections for things like birth certificates, job searching, housing, medical or dental care, and more.

This welcoming space was created with input from families and the generosity of community partners. Every survey and piece of feedback helps us build stronger partnerships between Family, School and Community—because when families thrive, our kids thrive. 💙

To schedule a time to visit The Hub, please contact Ms. Tanya at 970-613-6235 or call our front office at 970-613-6200.
