GOOD THINGS GOOD THINGS

A Note From the principal:

Welcome back to school! We are so excited to see everyone. We missed our students! Thank you for coming to Sneak Peek. I love that students can preview their new class before the big day. Please know we are doing everything in our power to prepare for a great first week. We want school to run as smooth as possible-from welcoming students, helping new families, and getting everyone home safe and sound!

A few specifics for the first week... please know the car line will be long, and there will be extra traffic. We are helping new parents learn the procedure, and we are making sure our kindergartners understand the process - to get up quickly when their name is called and safely walk to their car. We appreciate your patience and flexibility. It will get faster every day! Also, during the first week of school, we will focus on safety. We will have a required fire drill, and we will talk to students about Fortify FL as required by law, which is a "See Something, Say Something" initiative. And finally, we will begin FAST (Florida Assessment of Student Thinking) testing. This is a pre-test to see what your child already knows about new grade level skills.

As always, I am here for you along with our two EPIC assistant principals, Mrs. Harber and Mrs. Gomillion. Let us know if you need anything! Happy first week of school and a sincere welcome back!

Your Proud Principal,

Dr. Hawthorne

*If you have a "Good Thing" you would like to share, please email Mrs. Michal and it will be added to our next newsletter.

MONTHLY CALENDAR MONTHLY CALENDAR

  • We will begin inviting parents to join your student(s) during their lunch on August 25th. You can join your students on Mondays and Fridays throughout the school year.
  • Be advised, we do not allow lunch visitors on days that we are hosting school events, such as House Day, early release, etc.
  • Make sure to bring your I.D. to check in at the front office before enjoying lunch with your student(s).

MORNING DROP OFF MORNING DROP OFF

During morning drop off, please make sure to go through the car line if you are not parking to walk your student to the school. The parking lot is not a designated "drop and go" location. Also, please do not leave your student(s) at the door before our staff are scheduled to supervise at 7:05AM. At this time, we will open the doors for students to get breakfast or go to class. We appreciate your support in assuring our students are safe.
