Principal's Message
Dear Families,
Each October, we take time to celebrate Disability Awareness Month, honoring the diverse strengths, talents, and perspectives that make our Greeley community so extraordinary. It’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on how inclusion, empathy, and understanding help every child feel seen, valued, and supported.
With the cooler fall weather finally settling in, please take a moment to label your child’s jackets, hats, and sweaters—our lost and found always seems to grow as quickly as the pile of autumn leaves!
Last week, we are observed Bullying Prevention Week across all K–4 classrooms. Students participated in lessons focused on kindness, respect, defining bullying, and learning how to stand up for one another. By strengthening our shared understanding of what bullying is and how to prevent it, we continue to make Greeley a safe, caring, and connected place for every child to learn and thrive. Please see below for additional resources and family supports connected to our bullying prevention lessons.
Finally, please take a moment to complete the one-question survey below regarding the 2025–26 school calendar. Your feedback as a parent and community member is critical to developing a calendar that reflects the perspectives of all stakeholders.
In partnership,
Principal Kopinski

New Information
Parent Survey: Calendar
In consideration of the 26/27 School Year, the Winnetka Public Schools Calendar Committee is seeking feedback from Winnetka families. Creation of a school year calendar is dictated by the collective bargaining agreement between the School Board and the Winnetka Education Association as well as requirements from the state. This feedback will provide the committee with a sense of families’ priorities when it comes to planning for a new school year.
The survey window will be open from October 1 to October 17.
Parent-Teacher Conferences 10/30-31
Conference sign-ups are now open until October 28 at noon! Instructions were re-sent to families on 10/3 from “noreply@winnetka36.org” with all of the necessary information. Please check your inbox if you have yet to sign-up.
Otus Data
While benchmark testing is occurring, we have limited family access in Otus to benchmark scores as new scores are being processed and updated. Once everything is up to date and clean, we will reactivate these scores for families. You may still log in during this time but will not be able to view your student’s data until October 20.

Spotlight on Spanish
Hola!!
Spanish has started off with lots of fun and excitement this school year. Greeley students have been singing songs, reading stories, playing games and learning phrases all in Spanish!
With Hispanic Heritage Month underway, we have been recognizing what Hispanic Heritage Month is, who celebrates it, and how it is celebrated. Hispanic Heritage Month started September 15 and runs through October 15th.
Looking forward to continuing the fun of learning Spanish with Greeley students!!

Spotlight on KW
Kinetic wellness is off to a great start! Students began the year learning instant activities, as well as working on teambuilding and cooperative challenges. Now, the 1st-4th graders are hard at work preparing for the annual Ghost Dance. The 3rd and 4th graders have helped to develop the choreography for various parts of their dance and have very creative ideas! We look forward to having family and friends join us to see the student’s hard work in action at 1:00pm on Wednesday 10/29 (more details to follow).
As a reminder, students are required to wear clean KW shoes in order to participate in activities. Please make sure your student has a pair of designated KW shoes at school.
