Principal Message
Dear Fisler Families,
We had a wonderful Saturday School yesterday! Thank you to all the students who joined us and to our families for making time for another morning of learning. We appreciate your partnership and the many ways you support your children and our school.
We are excited for our Walk to School event this Wednesday! Join us at EOS as early as 7:00 a.m. to gather with friends and neighbors before walking to school together. Middle school students will begin walking at 7:25 a.m. Thank you to our PTSA for hosting this opportunity to come together as a Fisler community. I look forward to seeing everyone bright and early!
At Fisler, our afternoons are busy, too! Students are enjoying Encore, STAGE, Speech and Debate, Science Olympiad, and soccer. Our middle school also held its first round of K-pop tryouts last week! The fun does not stop there. Please check out the FAST section for details about after-school ukulele and guitar lessons. It is wonderful to see our students exploring their interests and trying something new!
Our Fisler Gala is coming up, and it is not too late to purchase your ticket! My husband and I are looking forward to spending the evening with you. I am excited to have time to visit with our families and staff, enjoy a night together, and raise money for our school. I hope you can join us! You can still purchase your tickets through October 5th! CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS
On a personal note, this weekend was so hot that I was secretly hoping my son’s soccer game would be canceled, but no such luck! So we sweated it out on the soccer field in Norco on Saturday. I hope you found a cooler way to spend your weekend! Next weekend, I will be heading to Cal for Parents Weekend to visit my older son. I am so looking forward to a big hug, some time together, and hearing more about his life at college.
Thank you for being part of our Fisler family. I look forward to seeing you this week!
Warmly,
Caroline Llewellyn, Ed.D.

🚀 Race to Space Reading Challenge!
Get ready to blast off with FSD’s Race to Space Reading Challenge! From September 25–October 16, students in grades 3–8 are encouraged to read, log their minutes, and help FSD reach our districtwide goal of 1 million minutes of reading! Students should aim for 2 hours of reading each week, and they can read any books that interest them. Every minute counts, so encourage your child to grab a great book and help us race to space! 🚀📚
Character Trait of the Month: R-E-S-P-E-C-T
In October, our school will focus on the important character trait of Respect. We believe that teaching children to value others, their ideas, and their surroundings is essential to their personal growth and success.
You can help reinforce respect at home by:
Modeling respectful behavior: Let your child see you being respectful to others, even in challenging situations.
Encouraging empathy: Help your child understand the importance of listening to others’ opinions and valuing differences.
Setting expectations: Talk with your child about how respect shows up in actions, like speaking politely, following rules, and treating others kindly.
Ask a Daily Question: At dinner or in the car, ask: “How did you show respect today?” or “Did someone show you respect today?”
Thank you for partnering with us to help our students grow into kind, thoughtful, and respectful individuals.
English Language Advisory Committee
Please join us this year at our ELAC (English Language Advisory Committee) meetings to discover how we can support your child’s English language development and share information about the programs and resources available at Fisler. Our first meeting is October 14th!

Fisler Families-
With October being Bully Prevention Month, I thought I would share some meaningful conversations ideas to have with your students.
Rude, Mean, or Bullying? Helping Children Understand the Difference
As children grow and navigate friendships, disagreements and hurt feelings are bound to happen. One of the most important things we can teach our children is that not every unkind behavior is bullying but every situation is an opportunity to learn how to treat others with kindness and respect.
What’s the Difference?
Rude - Rude behavior is usually unintentional and may happen because a child is not thinking about how their words or actions affect someone else.
Example: A student interrupts another child while they are talking.
Mean - Mean behavior is intentional and is meant to hurt someone's feelings, but it is usually a one-time or occasional behavior.
Example: A child tells another student, “I don't want to play with you,” because they are upset with them.
Bullying - Bullying is repeated or has the potential to be repeated, involves an intentional effort to hurt, intimidate, or humiliate someone, and often involves a power imbalance that makes it difficult for the student being targeted to stop the behavior.
Example: A student repeatedly targets the same child with hurtful comments, excludes them, or encourages others to join in.
What Can Families Do?
When your child tells you about a difficult situation, try asking questions before immediately labeling it as bullying:
“What happened?”
“Has this happened before?”
“How did you feel?”
“What did you do?”
“What do you think you could do next time?”
“Is there an adult at school who can help?”
Our goal is not to dismiss hurtful behavior. All students deserve to feel safe, respected, and included. We want to help children learn how to solve conflicts, communicate their feelings, and know when it is important to ask an adult for help.
Two Conversations to Have at Home
Conversation #1: Friendship Conflict
Parent: “If a friend says something that hurts your feelings, what could you do?”
Child: “Tell them I don't like what they said.”
Parent: “That's a great start. You can use a calm voice and say, ‘That hurt my feelings. Please stop.’ If it keeps happening or you don't feel comfortable handling it yourself, who could you tell?”
Conversation #2: When to Get an Adult
Parent: “What if you notice the same child is being picked on over and over?”
Child: “I should tell an adult.”
Parent: “Exactly. You don't have to solve it yourself. Being a good friend means getting help when someone is being repeatedly hurt or doesn't feel safe.”
Be kind. Be respectful. Speak up. Get help when you need it.
Thank you for partnering with us to help our students build healthy friendships and learn how to handle difficult situations with confidence and compassion.
Warm Regards,
Mrs. Conley
