Battle of the Books Results!
On Wednesday, we held our 7th annual Battle of the Books. The energy from these readers and the audience was amazing!
Over 130 students in grades 3, 4 and 5 read 12 books and worked with their teams to answer questions about the books. There were 23 teams, and the top 10 teams will be moving on to the next round in April.
Congratulations to the teams that tied for first place in the first round battle, getting 30 out of 37 questions correct:
4th Graders Isla, Mika, Amisa, Anna, Lilah, and Julia
4th Graders Amelie, Audrey, Fiona, Yein, Olivia, Margot, and Ava
A special thank you to Ms. Hierlmaier, Ms. Hussain, Ms. Marchand, Mr. Long and Mr. Kimble for serving as judges, to Ms. Gabor and Ms. Urbrock for the great photos, and to our parents for supporting these awesome readers! Way to go! We are looking forward to the next round of the Battle of the Books in April!
Students will be given the book list for the next round before winter break. The list can also be downloaded from the bottom of this newsletter.

Want to get a start on all these books for FREE over winter break? Borrow them from our Public Library!
All Nova Classical students automatically have library access at St. Paul Public Library. We just checked and all but the Pagoda Hill one are available in a variety of formats from the St. Paul Public Library at sppl.org and the Pagoda Hill book is available at Hennepin County Library (Minneapolis) and Ramsey County Library (Roseville and White Bear Area). It's easy to link your student's library card to neighboring systems. Just ask the librarian at the branch you visit! You can reserve the books online and go pick them up at the branch near you! The back of your student ID is a library card! (use the number, not the barcode)
