Intended read time is less than 5 minutes.

When thinking about facilitating a Student Support Team or PTR-YC meeting, consider these helpful phrases to move the agenda forward:
- Looking at the agenda and time, we have X items and X number of minutes. Should we vote, table this until the next meeting, stick with it, or move to other agenda items?
- After looking at the agenda, what items will be prioritized? What time adjustments do we need to make?
- As we finish this item, what do we need to document for next steps?
- That's a great segway to our next topic...
- I am being task-orientated and going to bring us back to the agenda.
- Timekeeper, how are we doing with time?
When working to support staff in de-escalating challenging behaviors, consider the Appropriate Responses to the Seven Phases of the Escalation Cycle handout. This can help to identify trends and patterns associated with behavior.
While creating a Behavior Intervention Plan, remember to include evidence based strategies for responding to challenging behavior (PTR-YC Form 9: PTR-YC Menu Of Intervention Strategies). This menu provides the team with a list of researched and proven strategies of replacement behaviors to choose from.
Are you wondering how you can use data to easily support PTR-YC meetings? Access the Individual Child Look/Think/Act guide on what BIRs data can be incorporated into each step of PTR-YC.
November is a great month to check in on your Behavior Incident Reports (BIRs) data. How might you build in reviewing your Equity Alert summary data. Check out the MN Equity Alert handout called Defining Disproportionate Occurrence and Reporting of Behavioral Incidents as a part of your data review process.
