Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
JES and JPC
Dear Families,
The safety of our learning community is our priority. We have received reports of cars that reverse and pull into the left lane while using the car line (in the morning), which is a no-parking zone in the afternoon. Under no circumstances should anyone reverse at any time.
During dismissal, no cars should park along the entrance driveway for any reason, as there is no car line lane used at that time. It is a no parking zone as indicated by the orange cones. Pedestrians, specifically our students, are at risk because of unsafe driving behaviors.
Please review reminders below to help ensure a safe and smooth arrival/dismissal. This information should be shared with anyone who may drop off or pick up your child(ren). Please note that the Summit Police Department will be present and will ticket vehicles if necessary.
Arrival:
All cars dropping students off should use the right lane when you enter the Jefferson Elementary Driveway and turn right at the bottom of the hill into the parking lot. Please review the map below for more details.
Students should unbuckle independently and exit the vehicle on the passenger side. Please do not get out of the vehicle, leave your door open, or park your vehicle in the car line.
Jefferson Elementary Students should arrive between 8:05am-8:15am; after this time, parents would need to park in the lot and escort their child(ren) to the building.
Jefferson Primary Students should arrive between 8:15am-8:25am; after this time, parents would need to drive to JPC and escort their child(ren) to the building.
Backpacks, instruments, and other school materials should be ready to go to keep the car line moving.
Dismissal:
For pick up, please do not park your vehicle in the car line lane. The car line lane is only used for morning drop off. For dismissal, please park in the pool lot and meet your child(ren) on the blacktop.
In the afternoon, please wait outside of the building in the designated blacktop area, after parking in the first area of spaces in the pool lot. Parents are expected to meet their children in this area.
Please note that after dismissal, students that remain in the playground are unsupervised. We do not have teachers or a nurse on duty after dismissal. If you remain with your child(ren) during this time please ensure that they play safely. We have noticed that some students have been running after each other with sticks. Thank you for your support.
Please be sure to share with anyone who may drop off your child(ren) in the morning.
