Treaty 6 Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that Battle River School Division is located on Treaty 6 territory, and we respect the histories, languages, and cultures of First Nations, Metis, Inuit, and all First Peoples of Canada, whose presence continues to enrich our vibrant community.

We are already in full swing! We had our first assembly this week to welcome our new and returning students as well as introduce our staff. We are so happy to see everyone!

We welcome back Mrs.Taylor who is covering grade one for the next while. We would also like to introduce Mrs. Bonnett who is teaching our grade 3/4 class.

Our athletic directors have been busy with practices already running! Please contact Mrs. Doucette or Mrs. Cross (Nielsen) if you have any athletic questions. Our athletic directors have also ordered a variety of Viking School clothing with more details below!

Teachers are already booking field trips and swimming dates so those will be out in the next newsletter. Remember to sign up for our Facebook page for daily information. We will also be sending emails though our School Messenger for important information. All permission forms continue to be online and if you have any questions you can call the school.

We are very open to feedback so please email me tdoerksen@brsd.ab.ca if you have any ideas or questions. Also attending our parent council meetings allows you to provide feedback, learn about the school budget and daily events around the school.

Parents that are picking up your children please pick up at the front doors of the school at the end of the day as the south side is for bus students.

MyPass is the secure self-service website that allows students to access and manage their high school records.

Through myPass, you can:

• order official high school transcripts in English or French

• view diploma exam marks and register to write or rewrite diploma exams with online payment

• access Detailed Academic Reports (DARs) to monitor your progress towards a diploma or certificate

• view Provincial Achievement Test (PAT) results for grades 6 and 9

• order additional copies of awarded credentials and track all your request

Graduation Celebrations, Weddings, Birthdays, Showers, if you are in need of gift cards for any occasions, please consider ordering through our FundScrip account for Viking School. All cards are ordered online and ship directly to your address! You can order physical or electronic gift cards while supporting our School! Once you sign up the site is accessible 365 days a year! You will be emailed monthly special’s and can order from the convenience of your home. There are hundreds of cards to choose from.

Please ensure you are checking your PowerSchool Parent Portal often.

Did you know you can use the portal to:

- see all current grades

- see all missing assignments

- see attendance

- complete forms

- print report cards

- set up alerts for new grades added

- set up alerts for all attendance taken
