CATCHING UP WITH... Mrs. Edmonston
Dear Coyote Families,
We are so excited to welcome our Coyotes back for another fantastic school year at Canyon View Elementary! I am filled with gratitude for your continued partnership and support which makes Canyon View such a special place for students to learn and grow. Together, we’ll make this a joyful and successful year of learning, growth, and connection.
At Canyon View, we believe in the power of choice “Make it a Great Day, the Choice is Yours!” Let’s start strong and carry that spirit of positivity into everything we do.
Please be sure to read our Welcome Back Family Letter (attached below) for important details about the start of school. This letter was also emailed to families last week. I can't wait to see all of you soon!
Let's Make it a GREAT year!
Warmly,
Erica Edmonston

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures - Read Carefully!
Morning Drop-Off (Begins at 8:20 a.m.):
Curbside Drop-off is available for all grades, TK-5! Please drive around the parking circle, pulling forward to the curb for drop-off. Students must exit from the passenger side only and should not be let out until your car is stopped at the curb. For safety reasons, students may not be dropped off in any other area of the parking lot. Parents should not leave their car unattended in the drop-off lane. If you need to come on campus, please park in a designated spot. Also, a reminder: adults must sign in at the office if entering beyond the gates during school hours.
After-School Pick-Up (2:45 p.m.):
TK students may be picked up by a parent outside the front gate. Details will be provided by teachers.
K–5 students will use the carpool lane. Grades 1–5 will wait on the front lawn; Kindergarteners will wait at the K gate.
Students walking home should use perimeter sidewalks.
We kindly ask families to avoid parking on Adolphia Street and to use the perimeter sidewalk rather than cutting through the parking lot crosswalk during busy times for safety. With the exception of TK pick-up, we encourage families to use our drive-through loading zone and refrain from parking in the lot during drop-off and pick-up.
Green Cone Zone:
The Green Cone Zone is located on the east side of the parking lot. This area is reserved for loading/unloading of students in our preschool and Special Day Classes who require additional assistance ONLY.

The Pigeon HAS to Go to School, written and illustrated by Mo Willems
From the creative mind of best-selling author/illustrator Mo Willems, comes another hilarious story about the beloved and wily Pigeon. The Pigeon is about to get schooled, yet he still has so many questions: Why does the Pigeon have to go to school? He already knows everything! And what if he doesn’t like it? What if the teacher doesn’t like him? What if he learns TOO MUCH!?! Fun for all ages, this book is perfect for exploring the humorous side of back-to-school jitters.
The Crayons Go Back to School, written by Drew Daywalt, illustrated by Oliver Jeffers
This charming story explores the different aspects of what the new school year can bring, through the “eyes” of an enthusiastic box of crayons. Each one has a favorite subject, and a shared love of art class! Readers young and old will appreciate the adorable illustrations and optimistic take on approaching a new school year with a colorful and positive attitude.
School’s First Day of School, written by Adam Rex, illustrated by Christian Robinson
A classic story, suitable for revisiting year after year! This book explores the anxieties and fears kids might face when they first start school, with a clever twist: It's the school itself that's brand new and worried about the first day. This school has feelings kids will recognize and relate to, and the book provides realistic but reassuring information about what they might expect. Robinson pictures a warm, diverse environment that includes a girl in a wheelchair playing with a friend on the playground. This sweet, funny book is an absolute perfect choice for kids about to venture off to school.
