STEM Fair at MHS
The MHS math and science teachers held the 1st annual MHS STEM Fair. Students were able to explore the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Students were able to explore and use inquiry. This opportunity allows students to be excited about STEM.
AGFC Generation Conservation Summit 2025
Last week our MHS science teachers took students down to Hot Springs for the inaugural AGFC Generation Conservation Summit. This two day event was designed to showcase AGFC careers and engage students from across the state in competitions that emulate wildlife conservation careers. Students were able to compete in several competitions from debate to rod casting to a Jr. cadet challenge.
We had students compete in the conservation photography division, wildlife identification, and the nature center exhibit design. Alivia Powell placed second for her exhibit design showcasing conservation of bat species in Arkansas.
When students weren't competing, the convention center showcased several activities for students to experience: archery, air rifles, rock climbing, stream team work, real trout fishing, and so much more.
Also set up were conservation organizations for students to learn from and speak with representatives. Students met staff not only from the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission but from UCA's research teams and the U.S. Forest Service among many others. It was an amazing experience that pushed students to learn about wildlife and conservation efforts.
Students also had the opportunity to explore downtown Hot Springs' Bathhouse Row and feel the hot springs at Arlington Lawn. They hiked a few of the trails in between competitions in Hot Springs National Park and enjoyed seeing the beautiful fall colors in the south central part of the state.
