CRES November 26/27
CRES - November 2026

THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO!!!
As we celebrate November as Family Engagement Month, it’s important to take a moment to thank all of our parents and guardians for your dedication to your scholar’s education and academic success. YOU are appreciated. Join our Title I Office as we celebrate National Family Engagement Month. WHEN FAMILIES ARE ENGAGED IN LEARNING, CHILDREN DO BETTER AND SCHOOLS GET BETTER.
Why is Parent Engagement Important
Researchers have found that students who benefit from strong parental involvement have:
- Higher overall achievement.
- A higher completion level of homework.
- A higher level of self-esteem.
- Better social behavior and lower probability that they will get in trouble outside of school.
- Less probability of dropping out of high school.
Family Engagement in Action
Family engagement plays an important role in student success! When families and schools work together, students are more likely to develop positive learning habits and achieve academic goals. Families can make a difference by checking grades regularly, communicating with teachers, establishing homework routines, encouraging daily reading, and attending school events. Small, consistent actions at home help children feel supported, motivated, and ready to learn. Together, we can build strong family-school partnerships that help every student succeed!
Title I District Parent Advisory Council
Griffin-Spalding County Schools (GSCS) Office of Federal Programs recently hosted its first Title I District Parent Advisory Council (PAC) meeting, bringing together parents and district representatives to strengthen family engagement and support student success. The meeting provided an opportunity for parents to share feedback, discuss family engagement initiatives, and collaborate on ways to improve communication and partnerships between families and schools. GSCS remains committed to ensuring that parent voices are heard and valued as we work together to create meaningful opportunities for families to support student academic achievement. If you are interested in joining this council, please email lajuana.love@gscs.org for additional information.
Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
· Advances equity by upholding critical protections for America's disadvantage and high-need students.
· Requires that all students in America be taught to high academic standards that will prepare them to succeed in college and careers.
· Ensures that vital information is provided to educators, families, students, and communities through annual statewide assessments that measure students' progress toward those high standards.
· Maintains an expectation that there will be accountability and action to effect positive change in our lowest performing schools, where groups of students are not making progress and where graduation rates are low over extended periods of time.
