Coach Spotlight- Jared Paul

Tell everyone a little about yourself?
  • I grew up in middleburg heights and attended Berea-Midpark high school. I played football and was a three year varsity starter. Graduated high school in 2015 and went to the university of Toledo where I studied environmental science. I graduated from Toledo in 2019 with a bachelors degree. I am now coaching football at Strongsville high school, with intentions of growing as a coach so I can become a head football coach down the line.

What team(s) do you currently coach (in and out of SCS)?

  • The freshman football team at strongsville and help out with varsity on Friday nights, as needed.

Why did you get into coaching?

  • Football helped teach me discipline and hard work when I was in middle school and high school. I wanted to give that feeling to currently middle schoolers and high school and help the game of football change their lives the same way it changed mine.

What was your favorite coaching moment?

  • Being the offensive coordinator at strongsville middle school and scoring a touchdown on my first ever play call. Seeing the kids light up and the stands get loud was awesome.

Who is your favorite coach and why?

  • Nick Saban is a coach that I look up to. He has been on top of college football year after year and that is a testament to how he runs his program and coaches those kids.

Outside of the Mustangs, who is your favorite sports team?

  • Cleveland Browns

What is your favorite sport to play and/or watch?

  • Football

What is your favorite sports memory?

  • Throughout middle school and high school, my football team typically had a losing record. My senior year in high school we finally had a winning record and won our conference championship. Seeing all of the hard work finally pay off to win our conference was an awesome feeling.

What is your favorite sports quote?

  • I do not have a specific quote, but I like to say ‘you either win or you learn’. You aren’t always going to win every game when you play sports, so you have to use your losses as a teaching moment and learn from your mistakes. There is always SOMETHING that you can do better. If you take your losses on the chin and learn from them, you will become better in all aspects of life.
