Good afternoon DCS families, it has been another fun week at school. We had a poetry recital from the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, and the confidence they displayed was impressive! At the end of the Community Lunch today the 1st and 2nd graders sang a song that included all the names of the Presidents of the United States. It was a treat to showcase their memorization!

I hope you were all able to attend one of the sessions about the Petitioned Warrant Article regarding a budget cap, there was important information shared that discussed the impact of this should this pass. Please reach out if you would like any further information about this or any of the other Warrant Articles being voted on on March 11th. Please support our school by making an informed decision as you vote on March 11th.

It is disconcerting to have comments in local publications that suggest DCS is an "underperforming" school. These suggestions often are based upon one single piece of data and do not paint the full picture of our students' performance. Are there pieces of data upon which students did not perform as well as expected? Of course, and we address those results in a variety of ways. There are many data points upon which students meet or exceed expectations.

I hope you have a lovely vacation week with family and friends. See you in March! Nicole

A message from Pam Murphy, RN DCS School Nurse

Recently, there have been numerous student requests for cough drops. As cough drops are considered medication, I am asking for your help in following the ConVal policy on medication administration at the elementary level. To do this, any medication, including cough drops, must be delivered to the school by a parent/guardian or their designated responsible adult in the original container. A written permission form is also required which is available at DCS.

Please reach out to me at pmurphy@conval.edu if you have any questions.
