Superintendent's Weekly Update
9/23/2022
October 14, 2022
Dear Weymouth Public Schools' Community,
I hope you are well and healthy, and enjoying the warm weather while it lasts. This week our educators were busy as they participated in professional development opportunities, and district administrators met with the Massachusetts School Building Authority for a final walk-through of the beautiful Maria Weston Chapman Middle School. A video of the visit is included below. A few additional updates this week, and some important information, includes:
- The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has selected Weymouth Public Schools to participate in a district review during the 2022–23 school year. The purpose of the district review is to provide formative and actionable feedback on district practices, enabling district leaders to reflect on progress and strengthen staff and student performance. Focus groups and observations will take place between Monday, October, 31 and Friday, November 4. Families can expect more information related to the review schedule and procedure next week.
- The Weymouth Information Hub is a great resource to find a number of resources across the district, including: Monthly Updates, Community Service Opportunities, Continuing Education/Training Opportunities, Employment, Events, Fundraising, Resources, Scholarships, the School-Community Partnership (SCP) Directory, SCP Discounts & Coupons, and WHS CTE Community Programs.
- Tickets are on sale now for the Weymouth High School Theater Company performance of Seussical the Musical on Friday, November 18, Saturday, November 19, and Sunday, November 20.
- The Dreamcatcher Athletic Scholarship is now taking applications for the winter 2022-23 WHS sports season. The application can be found HERE and should be filled out entirely by the student athlete, including the essay.
The Dreamcatcher Road Race will once again take place on Thanksgiving morning, 7:30 AM, at Weymouth High School. In order to meet our goal of giving a free user fee to every student-athlete who applies, we would love your support in running, walking, or just donating at www.dreamcatcherclassicroadrace.com
As always, families are encouraged to check their weekly school communications for additional events and opportunities.
Have a great weekend, Wildcats!
Best Regards,
Robert Wargo

A Message from Weymouth High School: Football Game Attendance
We enjoy having our community attend the football games. We are implementing a few new rules and reinforcing some of our current rules moving forward.
All primary and middle school aged students must attend football games with an adult
All WHS students must show their IDs
High School students are encouraged to sit/stand in the student fan section
No outside beverages allowed into the stadium
No re-entry if you leave the game early
We appreciate your help with the implementation of these expectations and rules to ensure student safety while giving our fans the opportunity to completely enjoy the game.
