KMS WEEKLY UPDATE

Dear KMS Families,
As the school year comes to a close, we kindly remind all students to prepare for the iPad Return Day scheduled for May 20th during Advisory classes.
To ensure a smooth process, we ask students to back up their iPads on OneDrive and submit all digital assignments prior to this date.
Please note the following guidelines:
- Students returning to KIBSD next year will only turn in their iPad.
- Students not returning to KIBSD next year will return both their iPad, Logi pen, charging block, and charging cord.
Additionally, rising 8th graders planning to take Algebra 1 and students planning to take summer CTE courses will be able to retrieve their iPads on June 3rd from Kodiak High School.
We appreciate your cooperation in this matter. Should you have any questions, feel free to contact the school office.
Sincerely,
Geoff Smith, Principal
Rena Rankin, Assistant Principal

Your feedback about teachers and administrators is invaluable in ensuring that we maintain high standards and create a supportive learning environment for our students.
Whether you have positive experiences to share or constructive feedback to offer, we encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to provide input. Your insights can help us identify areas of strength and areas for improvement, ultimately enhancing the quality of education for everyone involved.

MIGRANT ED SUMMER ACTIVITIES KIT
Hello Migrant Education Program Families!
We have one more MEP Parent Meeting coming up on May 8th, and we are looking forward to seeing you!
This is our year end celebration of events and warm handoff to everyone’s Summer Activity Kits!
The Summer Activity Kits have several books and games that we hope will inspire MEP students to continue to explore the world around them and engage in continued learning. The kits have been packaged by age group this year. Groups are: 0-PS, K-2, 3-5, MS and HS. Each family will receive one kit per age group of their migrant education children. For example, if the children in your family who are a part of the MEP are grades K,2, and MS. We have prepared two kits for your family. One K-2 kit and one middle school kit. (We have planned this to not duplicate books and games for families.)
Final preparations are being made on the kits and we are excited to share them with you!
Please join us and pick up your Summer Activity Kit on
MAY 8th @ 5:30pm. @ the Central Office of KIBSD (adjacent to the high school).

VISITOR & VOLUNTEER PROCEDURE
KIBSD Schools are excited to welcome our visitors and volunteers to the different schools.
If you have not visited one of our schools before or have been coming for a long time, we have made some minor changes to standardize our process throughout the schools.
There will now be a sign-in binder you will be asked to sign, along with the name tag you are used to wearing. We ask for your patience, if we have not seen you before, you will be asked to present an ID when you sign in.
All non-KIBSD employees in the buildings will be asked to use staff facilities, not the student washrooms.
We also want to say good-bye when you leave so we are asking everyone to stop by the office to sign out.
ATTENDANCE, CHECK-OUT, & DROP-OFF PROCEDURES
ATTENDANCE LINE:
Please use this option to let us know that your child is going to be absent, late, or if you're picking them up early. This is OPTION 1 when calling the school at 907-486-7460.
We check the voicemails every hour.
CHECKING STUDENTS OUT:
Please call in the morning to let us know that you will be checking your student out early. Press the attendance line (OPTION 1) to leave a message. A pass will be given to your student so they can be ready when you arrive. You will come to the front entrance, ring the bell, and sign them out in the office.
DROPPING OFF LUNCH/ITEMS TO STUDENTS:
Please be sure to drop off lunch to students PRIOR to their lunch time.
When dropping off any items to students, please do so BEFORE the class they need it, and we will call them to the front office during passing period.
